The program is comprehensive and structured to include both clinical experiences led by one-on-one mentoring and didactic educational opportunities which will include participation in weekly academic conferences and lectures.   Qualifications: - Completion of an accredited Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Master’s Program - Pediatric National Board Certification - BLS certification - Current and active New York State RN/NP Licensure - 1 Professional Letter of recommendation (Program director, preceptor, or manager) - Submission of CV and letter of intent - No pediatric orthopedic experience required  Goals of Program:   Upon completion of the program, the Nurse Practitioner will demonstrate advanced knowledge of pediatric orthopedic conditions, demonstrate sound clinical reasoning and advanced decision-making skills using the best available scientific evidence, integrate appropriate technologies for management of patient care, apply ethical and cultural competency in the healthcare setting, practice multidisciplinary collaboration and function as an independent provider. Working with colleagues who love what they do and are deeply committed to our Mission, you too can be part of our transformation across the enterprise     Post-doctoral Research Fellowship in Cerebral Palsy Assessment and Treatment Leon Root Motion Analysis Laboratory (LRMALab) at Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS)   This fellowship will focus upon post-operative outcomes for the ambulatory child with cerebral palsy (CP). During the fellowship, the individual will participate in on-going research and initiate new research in pediatric orthopaedics and rehabilitation. This research will focus on outcomes of interventions ranging from non-surgical (e.g. bracing in across different variations in lower extremity alignment and kinematic conditions) and surgical (e.g. outcomes of lower extremity surgeries to optimize alignment across planes, long-term results of tendon transfers in the foot, effectiveness of strategies to prevent and correct crouch gait). Requirements of this position include the completion of a PhD in engineering, rehabilitation, physical therapy, kinesiology, anatomy, physiology, neuroscience, or a related discipline; proficiency in the theory, design, and implementation of human movement research; excellent communication and writing skills, and research experience related to the analysis of human movement. The ideal candidate would have a strong interest and background in the theoretical, clinical, and experimental aspects of cerebral palsy assessment and treatment with some prior clinical and research experience. This post-doctoral position is for one year and renewable for another year.   The post-doctoral research fellow will be mentored by and report to the Senior Director Howard J Hillstrom, PhD and Co-medical Director Dr. David Scher, MD of the LRMALab. Fellows will participate in the Clinical Review Panel of the Rehabilitation Department and be available to mentor junior staff members in the development and execution of research protocols. It is also expected that the fellow will contribute to the development of research, grant proposals, staff knowledge and advancement of experimental methods and measurement techniques as well as publish and present their research findings. In addition, the fellow will receive guidance from several other faculty and staff in the clinical and scientific aspects of cerebral palsy and its impact upon movement.   The LRMALab evaluates a wide range of individuals including pediatric, adult and geriatric in a multi-disciplinary environment. The central philosophy of the laboratory is to examine the relationship between anatomical and physiological structure and biomechanical function to improve our methods of evaluating and treating individuals with neuromusculoskeletal disease. Our vision is to enhance diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment (conservative and surgical) strategies for such patients through quantitative observation and prediction of their ability to perform functional tasks.   HSS is the world’s leading academic medical center focused on musculoskeletal health. Conducts literature searches; actively participates in development meetings; reviews and edits protocol document; prepares study initiation documents. - Performs IRB submissions for initial approvals, re-approvals, amendments, etc. Prepares, submits, and files IRB and all regulatory documents (e.g. data collection sheets, protocol amendments, protocol deviations, adverse event forms) as requested by the Principal Investigator. - Maintains and enhances professional growth and promotes the visibility of the Department’s Chronic Pain Division through membership in to national/international societies, regularly attending national/international conferences relevant to the field of chronic pain research, high quality publications, grants, and invited lectures. - Ensures that all research related regulatory, institutional, and departmental compliance requirements are met as appropriate. Maintains personal and academic integrity in carrying out study procedures. - Participates in research leadership initiatives and committees. Proactively suggests improvements. Acts as a role model and mentor to research assistant staff. Contributes meaningfully to the division’s meetings, seminars, publications, and other initiatives. - Provides timely progress reports at regular intervals as determined by the Anesthesiology department chair and director of research, such as every 6 months. Other duties and projects as designated by Director of Research.   Qualifications: - PhD, and/or MD or equivalent degree (e.g. DO, MB, MBBS). - Minimum 3 years of prior research experience required, preferably in pain management. - Previous experience working with randomized clinical trials - Previous experience with regulatory science for clinical study - Experience with electronic data management, databases/clinical registries, statistical, and citation management programs, FDA submissions and/or industry-sponsored research, and research certification (CCRC, CCRP) are preferred
