Medical Secretary
Hospital for Special Surgery, #1 in Orthopedics for the last 13 years, is currently looking for an experienced and energetic Full Time Medical Secretary. working with day-to-day operations, you will contribute to an environment of clinical excellence.
In this role, you will provide support for the operations of this high-volume medical office. This includes, but not limited to, answering phones, scheduling patient appointments, surgical booking; obtain authorizations/certifications for treatments and diagnostic procedures, patient check-in/out, including copay collection, scanning documents into the EMR and any additional tasks as assigned.

Center for Health Equity Program Manager

Identify, establish, and implement efforts aimed at reducing disparities in care and improving health equity through enhanced access to world class care, research, advocacy, community engagement and leadership. We seek to do this by leveraging data to inform strategies, evidence-based interventions, and standardized performance metrics.
The Health Equity Program Manager will contribute to achieving the vision and mission of the Center for Health Equity (CHE) guided by the goals, objectives, KPI’s and tactics outlined in the strategic plan. The Health Equity Program Manager will work in partnership with hospital leaders and community partners to successfully implement a portfolio of projects and initiatives aimed at reducing health disparities including regulatory, reputational, and operational accountabilities. This position will report to the Chief Health Equity Officer and the Assistant Director.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Works collaborative with CHEO to implement health equity priorities, including enhancing access to care, data standardization, disparity monitoring and analysis, community engagement and interventions, and outcomes measurement.
- Supports the development and implementation of health equity strategy and ensures that health equity is integrated across the organization’s policies, programs, protocols, and services.
- Collaborates in a cross-functional team to identify policies, strategies, and/or programs to advance health equity and racial justice through matric driven initiatives and programs.
- Designs, leads, and manages various projects and initiatives that require broad organizational support and input from multiple stakeholders.
- Oversees the performance of quantitative and qualitative analysis to support the implementation and monitoring of health equity initiatives as well as coordination and of tracking and reporting of milestones and synergy realization.
Maintains detailed project documentation including meeting minutes, action items, work plans, issues lists, and risk management plans.

Patient Access Specialist

9am - 5pm
A highly visible customer service position that is responsible for the reception of patients, families, and health care providers. The Patient Access Specialist is an expert in areas of customer service, registration/scheduling, insurance, and HSS Standards of Care. Patient Access Specialist is expected to score in the top 5% of measureable categories within 6 months of hire.
Responsibilities
- Provide exceptional customer service to all patients, visitors, and customers
- Prioritize patient flow
- Verify insurance and obtain benefits
- Triage phone calls and schedule appointments
- Respond to patient, visitor, and customer inquiries
- Obtain patient demographics, personal information, and medical history by interviewing patients
- Collect payments
- Performs other related duties incidental to the work described herein
