 Director, Regional Markets Long Island OPC Full-Time   This position requires an individual who combines strong business development expertise with exceptional operational skills. The candidate must be able to balance executing on strategic plans to grow new business while developing, opening, and operating multi-specialty ambulatory care practices. The position has three broad areas of responsibility: (1) Regional business development; (2) New site development; (3) Existing site operations.   1)   Regional Business Development - Objective: Increase HSS market share in target service areas The Director will cultivate business development strategies and tactics, targeting community organizations, physician practices, and corporations to identify ways that HSS can increase its market share in the region. The Director will work closely with the Regional Medical Director(s), hospital and site leadership, and other HSS personnel to develop and execute initiatives that promote the Center’s growth and support the organization’s strategic plan. In this effort, the Director will serve as the HSS Brand Ambassador within their target regions, promoting HSS services by building and nurturing relationships with external and internal stakeholders. Collaborating with the HSS Physician and Community Engagement team and other relevant peer departments, the Director will be responsible for creating and maintaining referral channels into existing and future outpatient programs within the region(s) with the ultimate goal of increasing overall market share to the institution.   2)   Project Manager for New Outpatient Center Development Initiatives - Objective: Lead operational team through multi-phase facility design and implementation initiative The Director will serve as a critical member of a multi-disciplinary team responsible for the operational design and implementation of new ambulatory care facilities. As project lead, the Director will be involved with all aspects of these initiatives, including but not limited to: clinical and operational programming, facility design and development, staffing, equipment and supply procurement, go-live implementation.   3)   Administrative and Operational Lead for Existing Outpatient Centers - Objective: Lead efficient and effective facility operations to ensure optimal patient, physician and staff experience Regional outpatient centers at HSS are located throughout the tri-state area offering patients access to a myriad of musculoskeletal services, including: physician office visits for medical diagnosis and pre- and post-operative care; acute injury clinics with same-day appointments, radiology services such as digital x-ray and MRI; and rehabilitation services, including occupational therapy, physical therapy, performance testing, training, and wellness programming. The Director serves as the lead administrator for all outpatient centers within their portfolio and is accountable for maintaining an optimal patient and physician experience at these locations. To achieve these goals, the Director is responsible for supervision of the administrative and clinical managers and their staff (Site Administrator, Clinical Coordinator, Patient Access Specialists, RNs, LPNs), including hiring, on-boarding, scheduling, and performance management. In collaboration with relevant department leaders, the Director oversees onsite and day-to-day support for ancillary programs, such as Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation, Physician Offices and Radiology. The Director will partner with their team to maintain relationships with third-party vendors and on-site building management that will support day-to-day operations of space and equipment. Senior Director, West Side Full-Time 7am-3:30pm   The Senior Director, ASC is responsible for the clinical and administration functions of the Ambulatory Surgery Center. He/she directs and coordinates the activities of the center to assure optimal and appropriate care of patients, consistent with the philosophy of Hospital for Special Surgery. He/she works to continuously improve patient care and operational efficiency, as well as patient and employee satisfaction. He/she is responsible for the daily management of center personnel and for developing a high-performance and engaged team, with the appropriate skills and competencies to achieve the short- and long-term goals of the center. The Sr. Director is accountable for the effective delivery of skilled, efficient, and compassionate patient care. Responsibilities include coordination of all aspects of patient care; troubleshooting issues; ensuring compliance with accreditation and regulatory standards; managing quality assurance/quality improvement/change management initiatives; ensuring that all safety and risk management requirements are met; supervision of a professional staff of around 35 professionals, including nurses, technicians, and administrators; budgeting, billing, and accounting; policy management; and leadership in helping to align and implement the vision of the center with that of Hospital for Special Surgery. The Sr. Director will develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with the entire medical staff at the center and be a role model and effective liaison for the ASC with the hospital’s medical and executive leadership. He/she will work closely with the VP and AVP of Perioperative Services for HSS. The position has a matrixed reporting relationship to both the ASC Board and the EVP & COO.   Experience   - Knowledge of laws, rules and regulations; standards and guidelines of certifying and accrediting bodies; standards, protocols, and procedures governing the provision of nursing and ambulatory care. - Knowledge of principles and practices of administration, fiscal, and personnel management essential to the success of a large department, unit, or center. - Knowledge of practices and current trends in health care and ambulatory/perioperative services. - A professional with significant management experience (5-plus years) in hospitals is required. Minimum of five years of ambulatory surgery/perioperative experience is required. General experience in academic, multi-specialty institutions, with some knowledge of orthopedics, is highly desirable. - Experience interfacing with medical and executive leadership in a hospital and/or ambulatory setting is required. Must be adept at working through issues with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other OR/hospital staff. - Knowledge and expertise in all areas of ambulatory-surgery operations (Pre-Op, PACU, OR, and administration) is required. - Experience implementing and managing the business plans for a large clinical group, department or center. - Knowledge of change management, “lean” process, and quality-improvement principles; ability to initiate and implement change conducive to the improvement of the quality and safety of patient-care delivery - Experience resolving issues through innovative problem solving and solution development. Possesses a continuous-improvement mind-set.   Qualifications - Bachelor’s in Nursing required, Master’s preferred - Current NYS Registered Nurse (RN) License and CPR certification are required. - Additional certifications (CNOR, ANCC, and CASC) are highly desirable.

Additionally, duties will include: - Ensure a standard process for pathway development, deployment, updates, and improvement - Ensure pathways contain high quality, evidence based clinical practices - Facilitate the Pathways Steering Committee, composed of executives and clinical leaders, to prioritize pathway development, maintain a production schedule, identify key performance metrics and drive continuous improvement of existing pathways - Provide project management for interdisciplinary pathway development teams - Work with stakeholders to provide change management and communication to pathway users - Collaborate with Information Technology to ensure pathway designs are appropriately built/translated into Epic workflows - Leverage multiple data systems to identify quality, operational and financial benefits from pathways - Manage, distribute, and enhance pathway performance data - Work with clinical and operational leaders to improve pathways adherence - Codify, transfer, and embed HSS pathway knowledge to/with clinical and business partners - Maintain pathway intellectual property and ensure legal compliance - Interface with external stakeholders and increase visibility of HSS pathways program - Develop a vision for long term pathway program success and maintain best practice knowledge of industry standards The ideal candidate will have the desire to be the face of HSS pathways and grow into a senior leadership role. The role requires extensive collaboration and a deep knowledge of best practices in pathway development.  Clinical pathways and pathway data are rapidly evolving in healthcare, requiring the candidate to express an understanding of how to integrate new technologies that support pathways.   - Bachelor’s degree in clinical field of study required (RN, NP, PA) - Master’s or master's eligible required (MBA, MHA, MPH, etc.) - Five plus years experience required - Program management, management consulting, PI or QI experience in a top tier healthcare organization - Proven experience with implementation of successful pathways adoption - Database management; fluency in analyzing data using Excel, SAS, R, SPSS, Tableau - Experience developing/using order sets and workflows for Epic or another electronic health record (EHR) - Demonstrated ability to influence and build relationships with executive and MD stakeholders - Demonstrated success in facilitating multidisciplinary clinical and business teams - Exceptional communication skills - Exceptional organization skills and detail orientation - Versatile understanding of pathway industry trends, developments, and future state directions
