Unit Assistants provide key support to the perioperative service.   Responsibilities - Provides support to the multidisciplinary health care team to maintain and promote the standards of care and safety. - Provides assistance with transportation of patients, room turnover, equipment - Has knowledge of operating room set-ups for various surgical procedures - Maintains supplies at all times - Recognizes when equipment needs repair and follows up with appropriate personnel or department - Maintains a hazard-free environment by disposing of filled linen hampers and medical waste appropriately - Maintain sensitivity and awareness of cultural and religious diversity when addressing patients, visitors, co-workers and other customers - Promote a supportive and team-oriented environment - Support departmental responsibilities consistent with the long-range strategic plan, mission, vision and values of the hospital

Working with colleagues who love what they do and are deeply committed to our Mission, you too can be part of our transformation across the enterprise.     Inventory Technician Full-Time 4 am-12:15 PM shift (after training)     Reports To: Assistant Director Hours of Work: 37.5 Per Week (Monday – Friday, some weekends)     Duties And Responsibilities Work collaboratively with surgical and supply chain staff to maintain programs and processes designed to ensure compliance of service delivery standards. Maintain timely and effective communication with supervisors and constituents. - Assist in managing the flow of surgical supplies - Check inventory levels of surgical supplies in designated storage areas and report finding to the supervisor. - Receive shipments of surgical supplies according to the vendor’s packing slip and report discrepancies to the supervisor. - Place new shipments of surgical supplies in their designated storage area. - Restock surgical supplies, according to established par levels - Dispose of all waste generated (primarily cardboard boxes). - Handle the pager by responding and addressing the client’s needs/concerns in a timely fashion.   Knowledge: Skills and abilities Possess a sense of urgency and a proactive customer service philosophy. Have good oral and written communication skills.   Experience Experience in inventory management. Experience with surgical supplies preferred.   Physical requirements Able to perform moderate to heavy lifting   Education: High School diploma required              Associates Degree in Business preferred

We'll also rely on you to conduct pre-op, intra-op and post-op surgical counts according to AORN standards and maintaining the integrity of the surgical field during procedures. Your capacity to collaborate with your team to promote the highest standards of patient safety is critical to the mission of HSS.   Minimum Requirements - High School diploma or equivalent and be a graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program - NBSTSA Certification required - American Heart Associate Heartsaver required - One year of experience preferred Essential Qualifications - Meticulous attention to detail - Self-motivated and proactive; a team player who knows how to think critically in a fast-paced, challenging environment - Active participant in seeking solutions to problems

Our CSP department is responsible for decontaminating, inspecting, assembling, packaging, sterilizing and safely transporting reusable surgical instruments to our surgical areas. CSP also provides disposable medical supplies to the perioperative areas via surgical case carts.     The mission is to provide customers with products that are 100% clean, complete, sterile and delivered on time. The process is complex due to the vast amounts and variety of surgical instruments found in each tray and meeting the demand of our very busy operating rooms here at HSS. The CSP team prides themselves in being engaged and compliant to regulatory standards for quality and patient safety in order to deliver the best service and products for patients that come to HSS.   In the Central Sterile Technician role, we rely on you to adhere to the mission by ensuring the delivery of our world-renowned patient care, and providing sterile supplies, instruments and equipment required for patients undergoing orthopedic surgical interventions. You will support all patient care areas by properly processing surgical equipment using washers, sterilizers, dryers, and heat sealers. The processing and logging of implants and loaner sets of instruments is also vital to your contribution.

Complements and supports the nurse in providing care to patients/families according to established standards of care. Supports the unit in the maintenance and safety of supplies, equipment, and the environment.   Responsibilities: - Applies and removes casts according to physician specification, including the appropriate selection of materials, padding and trimming - Verifies physician's order for type of cast, cast material and special instructions. - Selects appropriate padding and stockinette appropriate to the patient's condition, age, surgery anatomy and the cast material specified by the physician. - Applies padding to the skin and bony prominences. - Applies cast material so that the reduction/alignment is maintained as ordered by the physician. - Provides information about skin integrity, cast fit and other data collected, to the appropriate professional, nurse or physician. - Inspects edges of casts for smoothness, and for signs of pressure and tightness. - Demonstrates ability to apply and remove casts and splints according to physician specification, including the appropriate selection of materials, padding and trimming. - Demonstrates awareness of the plan of care for the individual patient; supports nurses and physicians as applicable. - Provides and maintains a safe environment for patients, family and staff. - Maintain cultural and diversity appreciation when dealing with patients, visitors, co-workers and other customers. - Promote a supportive, team-work oriented environment. - Support departmental responsibilities consistent with the long-range plan, mission, vision and values of the hospital.
