Clinical Nurse - Operating Room Full-Time 37.5 hours per week   Located on the West Side of Manhattan, HSS is developing a brand new comprehensive Center that offers physician office visits for medical diagnosis and pre- and post-operative care; radiology services, including digital x-ray and MRI; an ambulatory surgical center (ASC), and PT / Sports Performance. This will be the first one-stop-shop facility of its kind at HSS that contains all of these musculoskeletal services in a single, convenient, location.     As an integral member of our Magnet Nursing team, the successful RN candidate will be focused on – patient advocacy and delivering the highest quality of care to our patients!  Working in an evidence-based nursing environment that commands excellence every day, you will provide comprehensive nursing care to our patients in an operating room setting. Assistant Director DIGITAL COMMUNICATIONS   Hospital for Special Surgery is seeking an experienced professional to join the Digital Communications team as an Assistant Director.   This position will be primarily responsible for supporting HSS physicians and clinicians and managing their presence on the HSS website including creation and maintenance of profiles including photography. This person will be responsible for growing open scheduling participation by interacting with an interdisciplinary group of service lines, office managers and IT. Onboarding of new physicians will also be coordinated by this position. This person will also coordinate insurance and condition participation with appropriate teams. This person will also incorporate SEO best practices to bring maximum search visibility to physician profiles. This person will also improve paths to the physician and clinician profiles from location, condition and department pages. SOCIAL WORK FLOATER, AMBULATORY CARE CENTER (ACC) and PEDIATRIC CLINICS Department of Social Work Programs   Position Summary:    The role of this .6 FTE social worker is to provide comprehensive psychosocial assessment and intervention for patients and families coping with needs related to the impact and understanding of conditions/illnesses and treatment options, including surgery, in support of optimal health outcomes. This will include coverage for ambulatory clinics, with assignment varying in response to need, prioritizing patients who are high risk due to psychosocial issues and those who are preoperative, where there may be barriers affecting their ability to access needed care, including insurance. The position reports to the Social Work Manager, Adult Orthopedic Ambulatory Care Center, Department of Social Work Programs.   Major Responsibilities: - Assess and intervene with patients in outpatient clinics, with a targeted focus on identifying those at high risk due to psychosocial issues and preoperative status, including medical adherence. - Assess and intervene with patients experiencing acute behavioral, family, and environmental factors. - Collaborate closely with the health care team to provide relevant psychosocial information to assist in treatment planning and enhance patient participation in their care, to optimize health care outcomes. - Facilitate referrals for mental health, substance abuse services community resources to meet housing, employment, financial assistance, health insurance and other needs. - Assess, address, and advocate as appropriate both population-based, as well as systems-based concerns and processes to most effectively address patient needs and medical outcomes. - Maintain complete, timely and accurate documentation of patient assessments and interventions in medical chart, and generate appropriate related reports. - Provide supportive counseling and psycho-educational interventions in collaboration with health team with patients and family members to help ensure an understanding of patient’s overall medical situation and treatment plan; identify obstacles to adherence and help to address these as appropriate. - Participate in departmental and interdepartmental initiatives and projects, e.g. those involving staff development and improvement of systems affecting patient care. - Participate in additional duties as needed. The Case Manager incorporates the case management process of assessment, planning, implementation, coordination, monitoring and evaluation into daily practice to manage the patient's broad spectrum of needs across the continuum of care. The Case Manager applies clinical expertise and core knowledge domains of case management into daily practice. Data is interpolated from patient/ family assessments, the interdisciplinary care team and medical record to evaluate the patient's inpatient plan of care, progress along clinical pathways and care guidelines and discharge plan. Collaborates with the patient/ family, interdisciplinary care team, medical staff, payers, and post discharge providers to facilitate and coordinate patient specific evidenced-based care. Patient care is transitioned through communication and appropriate referral to the next provider of care.   Requirements   The qualified candidate will possess a minimum of 2 to 3 years clinical nursing experience coupled with knowledge of case management, with emphasis on discharge planning. The ability to problem solve, multi-task and manage projects independently is a must. Knowledge of regulatory and insurance standards and protocols as well as proficiency in utilizing evidence based guidelines.  Current NYS RN licensure and Bachelor's degree in Nursing or related field is required. CCM certification highly desirable.

Assistant Vice President, Strategic Professional Education Programs Department of Professional Education Strategy Education Institute   Summary   Reporting to the Vice President, Education Institute, the Assistant Vice President, Strategic Professional Education Programs will have primary responsibility for the oversight of the Professional Education Department, digital eAcademy® programs and the HSS Alumni Association.  He/she will work alongside the medical staff and leaders of the interdisciplinary departments. The role includes overseeing all program development, implementation and evaluation of all.  These activities include onsite and live streaming programs, webinars and enduring materials.  Critical to the position is ensuring ACCME, BOC, AMA, New York State Education Department and other regulatory accreditation and compliance.   Specific Duties Position accountabilities include but are not limited to:   Operational Oversight and Program Development and Assessment - Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with regional, national and international medical associations and strategic education partners. - Conducts ongoing systematic needs assessments and oversees evaluation for all professional education programs and maintains data to inform future programming. - Manages departmental budget and oversees all program budgets through developing diversified funding streams (registration fees, grants, exhibit fees, sponsorships, etc.). - Serves as administrative director for Strategic Professional Education Council and collaborates with Council Chair on identifying agenda topics. - Works with Council Chair and Service Chiefs/Education Directors to identify and create annual Service curriculum plans. - Directly supervises Director, Professional Education and Manager, Alumni Affairs and works closely with EI Development Director to create funding strategies in support of professional education programs. - Collaborates with Manager, Alumni Affairs, to enhance Alumni Association activities by working with Alumni Affairs leadership and committees to strengthen alumni relations and meaningful programming. Accreditation and Compliance - Oversees the Director responsible for CME accreditation process, liaises with CME Accreditation consultant (as needed) and ensures critical documentation is in place for continuing accreditation. - Ensures all CME-accredited programs meet ACCME criteria and Standards for Commercial Support (SCS), thereby mitigating risk to HSS’ accreditation status, while also positioning HSS to achieve accreditation with commendation. - Hold all professional education programs to standards and best practices of ACCME criteria and SCS. Leadership - Provides strategic oversight for Professional Education Department ensuring alignment with HSS strategic priorities. - Interfaces with Service Chiefs, Surgeon-in-Chief, Committee Chairs, and external partners; ability to represent Professional Education Department and EI effectively and concisely and influence, as needed, to further strategic priorities. - Participates in Education Institute Executive Group and Education Institute Leadership Team meetings to ensure operational and strategic planning for the Institute.   Desired Education and Experience - A Master’s degree is required. An advanced degree in public health, higher education, hospital administration or public administration is preferred. - A seasoned professional (7-10 years+, with a minimum of 5 years as a manager) with experience in healthcare/hospital, non-profit organizations, and/or medical/professional education is highly desirable. - Experience in managing compliance with external accrediting bodies, audits, etc. highly desirable. - Experience and comfort interfacing with senior-level executives and high-profile individuals, particularly in a hospital or academic setting. - Possesses excellent analytical skills. Capable of synthesizing information, making sound recommendations, and communicating conclusions concisely and clearly. - Experience resolving issues through innovative problem solving and solution development. Possesses a continuous-improvement mind-set. - Outstanding written and verbal communication skills; good listening capability; can structure and lead business projects/meetings and achieve results. - Well organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities and projects on tight deadlines.
