Manager, Strategic Projects & Communications Office of the President & CEO   HSS, the world leader in musculoskeletal health, is seeking a manager for an exciting opportunity to work closely with its President & Chief Executive Officer, Chief of Staff, and members of the Executive Leadership team by developing strategic communications and leading special projects. The position will get exposure to executives and teams across the organization, including the Board of Trustees, helping to drive and support interdisciplinary strategic initiatives and planning processes. The position will also be responsible for developing strategic communications (presentations, whitepapers, board communications) for the President/CEO to deliver to both internal and external audiences. Follows up on plans formulated on rounds. - Discharges patients with Attending approval, when appropriate. - Assists the supervising physician in coordinating management plan. - Monitors and evaluates the patient’s treatment and health care plan for effectiveness and modifies as necessary. - Documents all assessments, findings, progress and care provided in the patient’s medical record. - Refers relevant clinical issues to the supervising physician. - Works collaboratively with all nursing and other hospital staff as required. - Adheres to all practice standards outlined by Hospital Administration and governing regulatory bodies.   Department Requirements: - Displays a positive attitude toward work assignments, performance feedback, and interactions with co-workers, patients, families, and visitors. - Willingly adheres to Department and Hospital policies and procedures. - Maintains computer literacy, including proficiency in Outlook email and E-learning. - Attends Department meetings regularly and punctually.   Qualifications: - Bachelors Degree - Graduate of CAAHEP accredited Physician Assistant Training Program - Current New York State registration  - ACLS and BLS certification - Current NCCPA and PANRE Certificate and continuing education and timely recertification as required - Current Infection Control Certificate - Prior critical care experience preferred   Working Conditions: Physical Requirements Physical: Continuously stand/walk or lift/handle/carry material or equipment of moderate weight. This location is the first HSS offering within the borough of Brooklyn and offers patients the opportunity to access non-operative and surgical specialists, including a variety of sub-specialty programs. Direct access to care will be a major focus of this Outpatient Center, harnessing digital technologies and open scheduling models to help patients coordinate care in an immediate fashion. Physicians work collaboratively with on-site HSS-trained physical therapists to ensure treatment plans are seamless and collaborative.   Industry City is a newly developed commercial neighborhood within Sunset Park, Brooklyn. Located on 35 acres of waterfront property, HSS Brooklyn is prepared to offer high-quality orthopedic and musculoskeletal services to employees, residents and visitors to this burgeoning neighborhood and its surrounding communities.    Working under the supervision of a MD or Physician Assistant, you will provide care to patients in the physician office setting. He specializes in the treatment of hip disorders, such as hip dysplasia, in patients ranging from newborns to adults. Hip disorders he evaluates include hip dysplasia (DDH) which can affect newborns and adults but also hip pain, labral tears, Perthes disease, and Slipped Capital Femoral Epiphysis (SCFE). In this role you will provide comprehensive administrative support to an HSS physician practice and contribute to an environment of clinical excellence. You will be responsible for maintaining and improving the clinical and administrative workflow of a busy surgical orthopedic practice. Your duties will entail coordinating all aspects of surgical coordination; anticipating the needs of patients as they arise.  A working knowledge of insurance carriers, deductibles, co-insurances, authorizations, in-network vs out-of-network benefits is necessary to successfully communicate with patients and collect for the practice. Additionally, you will schedule and coordinate patient appointments and schedule surgeries for the purposes of cross-coverage.  Position also requires the management of physician’s calendar, travel schedule. expense reimbursement and receipt processing, check requests too. Your role is essential to promoting a professional atmosphere through courteous communication, cooperation and respect for patients, visitors and members of the healthcare team.  In addition, you will be responsible for upholding stellar customer service practices for patients and families, as well as acting as a liaison to the physician and hospital departments.   DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Competencies/skills: - Consistently displays a positive attitude towards one’s work and work environment - Experience with Epic preferred; strong computer skills required - Experience scheduling surgeries and/or working in a surgical practice preferred - Knowledge of healthcare and health insurance, required - Superior written and oral communication skills - Exceptional customer service skills - Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment - Ability to follow through with tasks to completion - Strong organizational and problem-solving skills - Ability to effectively and accurately follow directions or instructions; detail oriented - Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team; offers to help coworkers when needed - Work independently on assigned tasks with minimal supervision - High School diploma required; Associate’s degree desired - At least two years of related MD office/healthcare experience.
