The CPL technician administers EKGs and PFTs to inpatients and outpatients across multiple care settings including the pre-surgical screening, inpatient hospitalization, post-operative care settings. This includes providing urgent and emergent first responder roles to cardiac emergencies in patients hospitalized at HSS.   The CPL technician role: - Ability to perform all routine/Stat EKG’s on patient floors and PACU/OSCU/SDU according to procedure - Ability to perform proper lead placement is vital in obtaining an EKG that will lead to correct interpretation by MD. - Monitors EKG for abnormal patterns - Inputs information into machine and marks tracing to indicate positions of chest electrodes. - Maintains adequate supply of paper and electrodes in machine. Check correct date/time/care and maintenance of electro cardiograph machines. - Attaches electrodes of Holter Monitor to patient to record data over extended period of time. - Download all routine EKG’s from Doctors office and patient floors - Respond to all “Signal One” calls - Perform routine PFT’s testing (spirometry, lung volumes, diffusion, MIP and MEP pressures) on outpatients, as well as, research subjects referred for testing. - Manages and operates EKG and PFT equipment safely and correctly. Inspects cardiology equipment throughout the hospital to ensure it is functioning correctly. Ensures proper EKG and PFT equipment and supplies are available. Reports all malfunctions to Biomed dept. - Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity. - Manages time appropriately to meet patient, department and hospital needs - Staff Meetings - Unit-Based Training; In-services - New RN Orientation lectures - Respiratory therapy student training - Participates in inpatient, outpatient, and perioperative committees - Schedules cardiopulmonary procedures for inside/outside sources. Maintains records/reports. - Types report interpretations, sends reports to physicians, files inpatient reports in charts and files reports in department according to department procedures. - Liaises with covering cardiologist and critical care pulmonologist as needed Professional requirements: - Adheres to dress code. Appearance is neat and clean. - Completes annual educational requirements. - Maintains regulatory requirements. - Maintains patient confidentiality at all times. - Reports to work on time and as scheduled. Completes work within designated time. - Wears identification while on duty, uses computerized punch time system correctly. - Attends annual review and departmental in-services, as appropriate. - Attends staff meetings, reads all departmental notices and policies. - Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner. - Actively participates in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement (CQI) activities. - Complies with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices. - Communicates the mission, ethics and goals of the facility, as well as the focus statement of the department.   This position is based at the main hospital in the Upper East Side of Manhattan (New York, NY). This is a full time position, working eight (8) hour days (five days per week).   Requirements: - High school diploma or equivalent - EKG certification - NIOSH certification - CPR certification: BLS - One (1)+ years of related experience as an EKG technologist and PFT technologist - Experience with an EMR (preferably Epic)

Athletic Trainer Overview:   Hospital for Special Surgery, #1 in Orthopedics for the last 12 years and is currently looking for an experienced and energetic Full time Athletic Trainer for the offices of Dr. Andreas Gomoll and Dr. Sabrina Strickland. Dr. Gomoll is an orthopedic surgeon and specializes in sports medicine. Dr. Sabrina Strickland is board certified in sports medicine and orthopedic surgery at HSS, where she specializes in patellofemoral surgery for instability, cartilage disease and arthritis, ACL and meniscal surgery and shoulder surgery. Under the direction of the physicians, you will function as a physician extender by ensuring efficient flow of patient visits during office hours. He/she will work closely with the physicians to ensure a cohesive approach to injury management and prevention. Key responsibilities will include preparing medical records for client visits, providing medical information to clinicians to allow for personalization of evaluations, and coordinating/overseeing the follow-up process. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited, to assisting with procedures, patient education, and implementing the treatment plan.    In addition to the Athletic Trainer role, you will assist with administrative tasks in the office. The administrative responsibilities in the office include, but not limited to: scheduling patient appointments, patient check out, filing/scanning records, procedures/medication authorizations, and answering a high volume of phone calls. Your role is essential to promoting a professional atmosphere through courteous communication, cooperation and respect for patients, visitors and members of the health care team.   DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS   Athletic Trainer Duties & Responsibilities: - Coordinate and oversee follow-up process to maintain continuation of care - Obtain medical records prior to client visits - Organize and maintain client charts - Assist in development of program procedures and protocols - Coordinate clinician referral process and maintain referral network database - Create personalized exercise programs for patients in relevant systems/databases - Organize patient information/charts (i.e., results and outside notes) for physician review prior to appointment - Provide general patient education and field patient questions - Under physician supervision, assist with answering phone calls - Under physician supervision, develop appropriate fitness and training programs for patients including home exercise and activity modifications - Assist with coordinating testing, physical therapy and physician referrals, medication prescriptions, and follow up visits as recommended by the physician - Document progress patient has made towards desired outcomes - Maintain clear and legible history and physical documentation and all other reports as requested by the physician - Act as a liaison between physician, nursing, and office staff to promote effective and efficient patient care.  Administrative Duties & Responsibilities: - Create, scan and file patient charts - File medical documentation and patient charts where applicable - Prepare patient charts in anticipation of office hours where applicable. - Scan medical records into EMR system - All patient charts and documents must have double identifiers (ex. Name and date of birth) - Any documents being scanned or filed into patient chart must be checked for double identifier and placed in appropriately identified section - No ‘results’ document is to be scanned or filed into patient chart until MD has reviewed and signed. - Answer telephone, route callers, take messages and provide routine information to callers in a professional and efficient manner. - Schedule patient appointments and other ancillary tests - Obtain prior authorizations   REQUIREMENTS: - Licensed by the Board of Certification for Athletic Trainers (A.T.C) - Bachelors in Sports Medicine or related field - Minimum of 2 years of experience - Heavy physical activity OTHER FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES   Perform other duties as assigned.

In this role the ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional customer service skills, attention to detail and organization, and excellent verbal and written communication skills.   Applicants should have a minimum of 5 + years of professional experience on MS-SQL databases and major. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: - Working Experience with database administration of MS-SQL - Familiar with configuring and maintaining databases and processes. - Manage and monitor the health and performance of all databases - Create a Pro-Active, Self-Correcting environment with alerts and notifications. - Be able to optimize systems to ensure quality performance at OS and Database levels. - Conduct Software installation and Service Pack release deployment. - Create baseline performance measures. - Familiar with best practices and implementation - Analyze, solve and correct issues in real time. - Must be able to write, understand and debug SQL Code. - Monitor queries to ensure that procedures and processes are optimized. - Experience with Always ON environment. - Performance Tuning - Backups, Restores and Recovery Models - Role based Security Model. - Data Protection and Integrity - Database Capacity Planning - Curious and analytical mindset willing to dig deep to understand and explain why/how things work. - Be accountable and take ownership of problems/issues.
