Summary:
Under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, the Medical Assistant performs delegated duties related to patient care activities and procedures with a varied level of acuity. Qualified candidates are committed to exceptional service and display enthusiasm for working as part of a cohesive team.
Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for exams and orient patient/family to the environment
- Confirm radiology services have been completed prior to physician visits
- Assist with disinfecting exam rooms between patient use
- Assist patients with wayfinding and transport (e.g., wheelchair) throughout the site
- Assist in managing patient information, uploading CD images & making copies of pertinent exams
- Assist with patient rooming tasks (i.e., medical history, vital signs, pulse oximeter readings, height/weight, etc.)
- Assist prescribers with procedures
- Assist with stocking exam rooms
- Ensure patient care areas are neat and presentable
- Provide exceptional customer service to all patients, visitors, and staff
- Respond to patient, visitor, and staff inquiri

Job Description
- Manages VSys (volunteer database) to add application, track volunteer hours, maintain orientation modules, set up training and other vital data including report summary of volunteers
- Provide coverage, customer service (phone or email) trouble shoot and respond to initial volunteer inquiries
- Schedule new applicant virtual interviews, medical appointments, photo ID’s
- Interfaces with site supervisors to ensure strong matches and retention of volunteers
- Responsible for monthly evaluations, exit interviews, returning of photo ID and jackets when volunteers are terminated
- Responsible for department supplies, tracking inventory, mailings
- Manages new tech projects for department in order to reach a broader candidate pool
- Covers all aspects of the department when director is away

The Patient Access Specialist is an expert in areas of customer service, registration, insurance, and HSS Standards of Care. - Verify insurance and obtain benefits

CSP Loaner Specialist
Central Sterile Processing

Overview:
This position is responsible for the overall management of the Loaner and consignment instrument process. Supports and troubleshoots all customer issues between the Peri-operative services, Central Sterile Processing and vendor representatives pertaining to loaner instruments brought into the hospital. Manages the loaner module data within the instrument tracking system.
Responsibilities:
- Manage inventory and ownership for consigned or loaned surgical instruments at HSS.
- Establish and manage quality and safety controls for consigned and loaned instruments.
- Responsible for new incoming consignment and loaner instruments being inventoried and confirmed against the vendor provided component list.
- Responsible for outgoing consignment and loaner instruments being inventoried and confirmed against the original vendor provided component list.
- Demonstrates measurable knowledge of orthopedic instruments including 3 to 5 years of hands on tray assembly, packaging and sterilization of orthopedic instrumentation.
- Demonstrates measurable knowledge of sterile processing principles in order to ensure the process for loaner instruments is based upon AAMI and AORN best practice.
- Demonstrates ability to work with instrument manufacturer representatives and couriers to ensure shipments of instruments follow the established process.
- Develops, maintains, reports and posts Vendor Key Performance Indicators (Vendor Matrix).
- Demonstrates good organizational skills including filing and reconciliation systems.
- Ability to instruct and train other CSP staff in identification of orthopedic instruments and care, handling and inspection of instruments.
- Coordinate with OR staff scheduling and physician offices to ensure the OR suite has what is needed for the case and to avoid immediate use sterilization.
- Maintains consignment documentation for CSP ensuring an accurate updated vendor agreement is on file.
- Coordinates the quality control and assessment of loaner instrumentation and provides appropriate reports reflecting the opportunities for improvement among CSP & OR staff
