EXPERIENCE REQUIRED     As an integral member of our Magnet Nursing team, the successful RN candidate will be focused on – patient advocacy and delivering the highest quality of care to our patients!  Working in an evidence-based nursing environment that commands excellence every day, you will provide comprehensive peri-operative nursing care to our patients and their families in this acute care setting.  Our core values center on respect, consideration, compassion for all individuals and maintaining awareness of diverse cultural and religious beliefs.  Your capacity to collaborate with the interdisciplinary team and promote the highest standards of care and safety is critical to the mission of Nursing in HSS.   The Ambulatory Surgery Unit (ASC) is located on the ninth floor of the main hospital building. The center consists of a waiting/registration area, 10 pre-anesthesia holding rooms, 2 isolation pre-anesthesia holding room, 9 soon to be 10  operative suites, a 17 bay/bed Acute Post Anesthesia Care Unit, which includes 15 beds, 2 isolation rooms, and a Sub Acute Post Anesthesia Care Unit which includes 8 recliners.  Support areas include a patient nourishment station, a physical therapy room, 2 physician consultation rooms, Surgeon dictation room, anesthesia work room, a decontamination area, a dedicated “dirty” elevator to central supply and the fourth floor operating rooms, a dedicated “clean” elevator to central supply and the fourth floor operating rooms, 2 staff locker rooms and a staff lounge.    Responsibilities - Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary health care teams to maintain the standards of professional nursing practices in a clinical setting - Collect comprehensive data on patients’ health (from patients and/or family members); Analyze data to determine needs & develop individualized care plans; update care plans based on progression and pathway as well as manage care delivery - Ensure that all physician orders are carried out appropriately and timely; work collaboratively with ancillary staff, including Patient Care Assistants - Integrate patient care standards in all clinical activities; participate in performance improvement activities to improve patient safety, quality of care and patient outcomes - Maintain sensitivity and awareness of cultural and religious diversity when addressing patients, visitors, co-workers and other customers - Promote a supportive and team-oriented environment - Support departmental responsibilities consistent with the long-range strategic plan, mission, vision and values of the hospital

Pediatric Physical Therapist, Advanced Clinician—Westchester (TEMP)   Overview   Hospital for Special Surgery’s Westchester Rehabilitation team is actively seeking a dynamic physical therapist with pediatric experience to join our state of the art facility in White Plains, New York.  This brand new and dynamic setting offers the opportunity to practice in a supportive out-patient environment and to help grow our pediatric rehabilitation program. Candidates need to have experience working with children of all ages and possess expertise and knowledge of pediatric neurological and orthopedic conditions including pediatric sports injuries and post-operative rehabilitative guidelines.    Qualifications   To qualify, you must have 3+ years of pediatric out-patient clinical experience with an emphasis in examination and treatment of various musculoskeletal and neurological pathologies that impact children ages birth through 21 years of age.  Focused experience in the examination and treatment of the adolescent athlete is a plus. APTA  PCS and/or NDT certifications preferred.  New York State licensure is a requirement.    Along with clinical expertise, this position requires strong communication, team building, mentorship and leadership skills. Dr. Albert specializes in the field of orthopedic spine surgery focusing on disorders of the cervical spine. He has an interest in minimally invasive surgical techniques and image-guided technologies in the management of spinal disorders. Dr. Albert is seeking a Part-Time RN to join his team temporarily for approximately two months with the possibility of converting the position to Full-Time then after. Required work days are Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday each week.   Serving as an assistant to Dr. Albert, duties will include performing history and physical exams in clinic, pre and post- operative patient education, completion of patient forms and letters, completion of prior authorizations, answering clinical calls and relaying results from to patients. Autonomously and in collaboration with healthcare professionals and other individuals, the NP provides a full range of primary, acute, and specialty healthcare services, including: - Diagnosing and treating acute and chronic conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, infections, and injuries - Ordering, performing and interpreting diagnostic tests such as lab work and x-rays - Prescribing medications and other treatments - Managing patients' overall care - Counseling - Educating patients on disease prevention and positive health and lifestyle choices HSS NPs serve pediatric and adult patients in an extensive range of practice settings throughout the hospital and its local and regional ambulatory sites. Their specialty and subspecialty areas include: Adult Reconstruction and Joint Replacement (ARJR), Anesthesia (PACU/OSCU/SDU), Anticoagulation, Cardiology, Diabetes Care, Intensive Care, Metabolic Bone, Occupational Health, Pain Management, Pediatric Orthopedics, Post-Operative Care, Radiology, Spine, Trauma, Wound Care, and private practice (physician and surgeon offices).   The HSS cardiology nurse practitioner supports the management of patients with pacemakers and Implantable Cardioverter-Defibrillators (ICDs) in the perioperative setting. The NP evaluates patients pre-operatively in the holding area and post-operatively in the post-anesthesia care unit (PACU); also available intraoperatively, when necessary, to troubleshoot device issues. NPs bill for their services, when applicable. The Cardiology NP role: - Performs chart review and develops a plan on device alteration depending on type of surgery, anatomical location of surgery, cardiac history, reason for device implant, etc. - Orders appropriate diagnostic tests and evaluating results; manages medications - Manages patients with implanted cardiac devices (e.g., pacemakers and ICDs) - Interrogates, alters, and programs cardiac devices - Evaluates and treats patients with concurrent cardiac conditions; collaborates with hospitalists on cardiac-related issues (e.g., congestive heart failure, fluid overload, atrial fibrillation, other heart rhythm disorders) - Develops and implements short and long range plans of care - Serves as a resource for clinical staff regarding cardiac devices This NP position is based at the main hospital in the Upper East Side of Manhattan (New York, NY). This is a full time position, working 12 hour days (three per week).   This position requires a motivated NP who is able to function autonomously within established practice protocols and a collaborative agreement.

Full Time Medical Biller   Ronkonkoma, NY  Monday - Friday 9:00 am - 5:00 pm   Provide our world-renowned healthcare team with comprehensive billing support. in this position you will provide various support services within the billing department.  This position involves maintaining complete, timely and accurate documentation of all approvals and denials. Analyze Explanation of Benefits (EOB's), balancing insurance and patient payments; perform adjustments and credits as needed.  Use of online databases and other resources to document appropriate recommendations.   PRIMARY FUNCTIONS: - Performs daily data entry of practice charges timely and accurately. - Verifies the patient demographic information and determines the appropriate insurance carrier to bill based on the information received. - Corrects registration errors and complete registration process when necessary. - Manages Epic charge review workqueues and claim edit workqueues. - Reviews the visit documentation and the billed charges to ensure all are captured. - Enters all required modifiers based on CMS coding guidelines. - Reviews patient daily batch report for appropriate information (CPT Codes, ICD-10 Codes, referring physician, etc.). Correct information as necessary. - Corrects hold bill edits and charge edits to ensure accurate and complete patient account information. - Prints the missing charge reports daily to ensure all charges have been entered. - Follows up on and locates documentation and charges not checked off as being completed. - Conducts investigation of questioned charges. Make corrections or charge-backs as needed. - Compares performed surgeries to billed charges to identify unbilled opportunities and accurate charge capture. - Performs other related duties as required.
