Position Title: Clinical Research Associate   The Clinical Research Administration (CRA) has established a centralized service center to provide Principal Investigators and administrative leaders within Service Lines with efficient and essential support for clinical research projects. As part of the centralized service center, the Clinical Research Associate is responsible for the administrative support of the scientific Clinical Review Panels (CRP), Clinical Research Contracts Administration, and Clinical Research Regulatory Administration.   The Clinical Research Associate interfaces across multiple HSS offices including the scientific CRPs, Institutional Review Board (IRB), Biostatistics and Data Cores, Legal Affairs, Contracts Administration, Clinical Research Finance, and Ancillary Departments to provide comprehensive support and facilitation of clinical research projects. In collaboration with Clinical Research Administration, Legal Affairs, Principal Investigators and/or research teams, the Clinical Research Associate may also interact with numerous Pharmaceutical, Biotechnology, Device Manufacturer and Clinical Research Organizations, external collaborative organizations, external IRBs, and external agencies such as the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA).   Job Responsibilities   Scientific Clinical Review Panels - Determine reviewer expertise required for the CRP based on project description and CRP guidelines - Assign reviewers based on subject matter expertise required by the CRP and meet the overall criteria outlined by the project - Assign project submission to reviewers and manage all real and perceived conflict of interests - Provide appropriate guidance and instruction to reviewers and study teams regarding relevant review policies, guidelines, and criteria; critiques preparation and submission - Monitor submission timeline and quality of draft critiques, provide appropriate feedback to study teams - Administrator CRP review meeting, CRP scoring and discussion, conflict of interest, submission of revised critiques, and CRP debriefing - Perform quality control check of reviewer critiques to ensure their completeness, accuracy, and adherence to the recorded scores editing to clear scientific language and removing inflammatory comments - Ensure CRP records are maintained per federal regulations and that the records are accessible, upon request, to authorized federal officials - Promote communication among research administrators, department heads, investigators, human participants, and institutional officials to maintain a high level of awareness regarding the ethical conduct of research and to safeguard the rights and welfare of participants - Educate members of the HSS research community in order to establish and maintain a culture of compliance with Federal regulations and institutional policies relevant to the protection of human participants - Orient new staff on the CRP review process and use of the electronic Clinical Application Portal (eCAP) Clinical Research Regulatory - Work with Principal Investigators and study teams to assist in all aspects of clinical research regulatory oversight - Act as an institutional liaison for external IRBs - Assist in protocol submissions to external IRBs, draft, revise and review informed consents, and review protocol logistics - Act as an institutional liaison for Researchmatch.com registry and other recruitment tools Assist with centralization of clinicaltrials.gov services, including ensuring results are reported in a timely fashion - Assist in audits by reviewing and collecting regulatory documents, as needed - Assist with IND and IDE submissions and annual reports, participate in pre-IND meetings, as needed - Participate in monthly HSS CRP and IRB meetings - Ensure that all appropriate regulations are followed throughout the course of a research project - Ensure that research protocols are approved by the Institutional Review Board and followed as written - Ensure that workflow is controlled and meets Clinical Research Administration and study team needs - Generate reports on the progress of assigned research projects Contracts Administration - Manages intake for contracts submitted to Clinical Research Administration - Troubleshoots and triages contracts incorrectly routed to ensure negotiation by the appropriate central office - Coordinates efforts, as directed, among HSS, HSS clients, suppliers, external counsel, and/or consultants to facilitate timely execution of clinical research contracts - Oversees contract negotiation communications performed by Clinical Research Contracts Administration or external representatives on behalf of Clinical Research Contracts Administration; assesses the current status of all contracts based on these communications, records and reports the progress of negotiations - Manages listserv communications and ensures escalated items are prioritized and resolved - Ensures the final Clinical Research Finance approved budget and payment terms (if applicable) are incorporated into the final agreement before routing for signature - Routes agreements for signature with approval from Clinical Research Administration or Legal Affairs; manages dissemination and filing of clinical research agreements. - Assists with Clinical Research Contracts Administration metrics reporting to ensure targets are aligned with established goals - Manages study team orientation of the Clinical Research Contracts Administration process

This individual will be an integral member of the research team in compliance with all regulatory, institutional, and departmental requirements. The candidate will play an integral role in day-to-day research activities in the lab, and patient coordination, ensuring efficient operations.    RESPONSIBILITIES: - Performs informed consent procedures following all regulatory guidelines.  - Collects sample, transport to the lab, and immediately process the samples for downstream biological analysis or tissue culture as required for the research study. - Develops and maintains research databases with guidance from Principal Investigator. - Performs data collection and data entry for studies as requested. Ensures accuracy when transcribing data from data collection sheets, medical records, or electronic institutional databases or other source documents into databases. - Facilitates completion of all internal documentation needed for research (IRB applications, conflict of interest forms, data collection forms, etc.) - Performs IRB submissions for initial approvals, re-approvals, amendments, etc.  Prepares, submits, and files IRB and all regulatory documents, ie., data collection sheets, protocol amendments, protocol deviations, adverse event forms, etc. - Prepares information required for reports to Principal Investigator as needed. - Ensures that all research related regulatory, institutional, and departmental compliance requirements are met as appropriate. - Conducts statistical data analysis and prepares statistical graphs and tables for research presentations, abstract and manuscript preparation or for other publications as requested by the Principal Investigator.  - Provides timely progress reports for each research project at regular intervals determined by the Principal Investigator.  - Prepares and maintains orderly files for all research studies, including both electronic and hard copy paper files in regulatory binders.  Physician Assistant - Concussion Program Neurology Concussion Clinic 5 weekday shifts   The Concussion Clinic Physician Assistant is a licensed and certified Physician Assistant who is responsible for assessment and management of patients in the clinic. Responsibilities include but are not limited to coordinating and implementing all aspects of patient care within the multidisciplinary team. The PA will also spend approximately 25% of their time implementing new research studies, monitoring current ones as well as managing research coordinators and assistants.   Dr. Teena Shetty is a neurologist at Hospital for Special Surgery and is triple board certified in neurology, neuromuscular medicine, and electrodiagnostic medicine. She is the Director for the Concussion Program in Neurology at HSS. She specializes in sports neurology, concussions, neuromuscular diseases, myopathies, peripheral neuropathy, intraoperative monitoring, and spine disorders. In addition to directing the concussion program and seeing patients, Dr. Shetty is also an assistant professor of neurology at Weill Cornell Medical College.

Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) ranked #1 in Orthopedics by U.S. News & World Report     Orthopaedic Service Line Administrator – HSS/Good Samaritan   The Orthopaedic Service Line Administrator shall provide leadership in the development of a world class, comprehensive program that will include orthopaedic trauma, joint replacement, geriatric fractures, sports medicine, and orthopaedic spine surgery. The Orthopaedic Service Line Administrator will build a program with the aim of establishing the service line as the provider of choice for inpatient orthopaedic surgery. The Orthopaedic Service Line Administrator shall assist Good Samaritan in the areas of: - quality oversight, - service line development, - stakeholder engagement and operations quality, and - day-to-day outpatient and inpatient operations. As a component of the Management Services, the Orthopaedic Service Line Administrator shall: Specific Job Duties.  Assist Good Samaritan in operating the Service Line by providing the following management services: - Leads implementation of orthopaedic service line activities at Good Samaritan, as directed by the Chief Executive Officer of Good Samaritan, in consultation with HSS, to facilitate and coordinate the provision of clinical services in the Service Line in accordance with recognized standards to deliver safe, efficient, quality care to patients. - Participates in meetings focused on operational strategic planning, program development, quality improvement, cost efficiencies, and customer satisfaction for orthopaedic surgery including the Joint Operating Board (JOB) and committees of the JOB, and provide professional leadership and physician input with respect to specific initiatives approved by the JOB. - Assist as a liaison for the Service Line among administrative departments and committees of Good Samaritan as well as the medical staff. - At the request of Good Samaritan, assist with the preparation and response to surveys conducted by governmental authorities and other accrediting bodies. - Support the policies of Good Samaritan in all respects, including being proactive relative to Good Samaritan's growth, working cooperatively with Good Samaritan employees, being supportive of patients and assisting in building overall engagement. - Work with Good Samaritan to advance a healthy work environment rooted in a culture that supports collaboration, communication and accountability. - Support cross department collaboration. - Participates in the Good Samaritan Division of Surgery Committee and Physician Advisory Council, as requested by Good Samaritan's CEO.   Clinical and Operational Management. Working in cooperation with Good Samaritan, Administrator shall assist as follows with respect to the clinical and operational aspects of the Service Line: - Provide and, subject to approval of Good Samaritan, implement its best practice standards. - Provide and implement patient care protocols for the delivery of Service Line services, including protocols pertaining to the most appropriate setting for such services (inpatient and outpatient) as well as critical care use. - Advises on clinical research opportunities. - Assist in the development and implementation of the drug formulary (e.g., antibiotic stewardship program, anticoagulants following total joint replacement procedures) and provide supply chain advisory services related to implantable devices and/or other medical supplies and devices. - Participates in, make recommendations to and reviews feedback from cost containment committee on equipment purchase and supplies management to include new products/implants to meet operating margins by managing supply costs, promoting standardization and inventory control. - Assist with and oversee process of standardization for orthopaedic implantable devices that is determined by Good Samaritan on Administrator's recommendation. - Participates in Good Samaritan's performance management and innovation initiatives as they pertain to increasing quality, efficiency and effectiveness of care delivered to patients. Participation may include meetings, development and adoption of evidence-based protocols and review of practitioner and group data. Staff and Community Outreach/Education. - Educates medical staff about the program using current evidence-based guidelines, care pathways, and pain management protocols to increase understanding of services and to improve patient care. - Provides educational sessions to nursing, surgical techs, and physical therapy staff on orthopaedic surgery patient management to include providing continuing education programs for Service Line staff, including medical staff, which may include videoconferencing sessions, observerships at Administrator's HSS Florida location, online learning modules and individual training at Good Samaritan. - Advises on speakers/topics for programs and presentations at hospitals and in the community. Quality and Safety: - Coordinate the development and implementation of Good Samaritan quality safety and patient satisfaction initiatives. - Works with Good Samaritan and its medical staff leadership to develop and implement clinical pathways for orthopaedic surgery procedures. - Works with Good Samaritan's CNO and Director of Quality Improvement to review data related to infections and develop strategies for improvement. - Works with the medical staff on processes and pathways related to perioperative and post-op care for orthopaedic surgery patients. - Supports the culture of patient safety in orthopaedic surgery by regularly reviewing data related to outcome measures (i.e., falls, readmissions, etc.) and developing strategies for improvement.   Medical Staff. Subject to Good Samaritan's oversight of, ultimate control over and responsibility for its staff, and agreement to consider the following in good faith: - Make recommendations as to front line staff hiring and coordinate recruiting, on-boarding, and training. - Make recommendations concerning other policies and staffing with the aim of improving the culture and quality of care at the Service Line. - Participates as reasonably requested in interviews and discussions with Good Samaritan's orthopaedic candidates for recruitment to its medical staff. Patient Experience/Satisfaction. - Review and evaluate patient, physician and staff satisfaction survey reports and key orthopaedic outcomes metrics and make recommendations for improvement. - Assist Good Samaritan in its patient experience/patient satisfaction initiatives in the Service Line. - Provide advice and assistance for Good Samaritan's implementation of a case management program for the Service Line including discharge planning, appointment scheduling and arranging for appropriate follow up services and supplies as well as the establishment and implementation of a patient call back process that meets the Joint Commission Standards for Service Line patients. - Evaluate processes regarding preadmission patient communication and make recommendations to help ensure questions are answered and patient is prepared for procedure. Strategic Management. Administrator shall assist Good Samaritan in operating the Service Line by providing the following strategic management services. - Assist in the development and implementation of strategic, financial and operational plans with respect to the Service Line including development of capital and operating budgets with special consideration of new technology and services including management information systems. - Commencing with the second Contract Year, provide guidance, advice, and implementation support to Good Samaritan on improving coordination of care, including participation in meetings with referring physicians regarding access, coordination of care and satisfaction.

The successful candidate will lead daily operations, including scheduling, coordinating customer service & productivity initiatives, provide direct patient care and participate in program development.   The ideal candidate must have exceptional oral and written communication skills and the ability to influence people, build relationships and collaborate with MDs and the multi-disciplinary team.  Prior leadership experience is preferred.  Excellent analytical, quantitative and problem-solving skills coupled with excellent organization and project management skills are a must.   Requirements Include: - Current NYS Physical Therapy licensure - Excellent time management skills - Excellent verbal and written communication skills - Ability to influence others - Strong problem-solving skills - 1-2+ years supervisory experience (preferred) - 5+ years experience in outpatient setting (preferred) - OCS and/or SCS ( preferred) - Advanced computers skills: Word, Excel and PowerPoint
