The Director, Sustainability and Infrastructure will establish a dynamic role to pro-actively develop and implement infrastructure standards including project identification, design standards, and managing project commissioning. The Director will also work closely with the Engineering and Government Affairs team to establish energy management goals for the institution and develop and support the reporting of energy data, building system performance, and provide project management support those energy and carbon reduction goals.   Reporting directly to both the AVP, Project Development, Planning, Design, and Construction and the AVP, Engineering and Environmental Services and will be responsible for the following areas:   Energy Planning and Management (50% of time):   - Develop, maintain, and implement an energy management plan in coordination with HSS’s strategic master plan to support long-term campus energy goals and capital planning around reducing overall carbon footprint of all properties - Work closely with our Government Affairs team, to maintain up to date knowledge of regulatory requirements, industry standards, and institutional goals with respect to energy and sustainability and financial savings - Research and advise leadership on potential incentives from local, state, and federal programs to support our energy reduction goals - Work closely with cross-functional teams across HSS and external consultants to identify and develop business cases for potential energy projects - Review and evaluate Building Management Systems and equipment performance through field inspections, data analysis, etc. and reports on and makes recommendations around issues with system performance and plans to optimize performance - Manage, track and report on progress made with respect to NYC local laws and regulatory compliance, including NYC Local Law 97 as well as lighting system upgrades, energy audits, and retroactive commissioning - Prepare reports and coordinate with NYSERDA as appropriate - With growth in scope and responsibilities, evaluate the need for additional Sustainability and Infrastructure personnel, establish their scope and responsibilities, and hire and manage this team Infrastructure Planning and Design (30% of time): - Partner with the Project Development, Planning, Design, and Construction team to identify infrastructure projects to support HSS’s strategic master plan to support operations and capital planning - Working with engineering and environmental services, planning and design, and construction management, and government and other relevant stakeholders, develop the foundation for engineering standards at HSS - Develop and manage commissioning protocols to coordinate with the Project Development, Planning, Design, and Construction and Engineering teams to monitor installation, submittals and usage of engineering tools adhering to project and commissioning guidelines Engineering Project Management (20% of time): - Work with and oversee design consultants, engineers, contractors on feasibility studies, design and implementation efforts, and construction projects as assigned. - Serve as the liaison between the engineering team and HSS’s Project Development, Planning, Design, and Construction team throughout project development and construction including design changes, managing the timeline, and budget impacts

Rehab: Patient Access Specialist III: Outpatient area in HSS Rehab:   This highly visible customer service position works with interdisciplinary team members in the management of patient flow and is responsible for scheduling, pre-registration and registration of patients in person and by phone using the Epic system.   The Patient Access Specialist (PAS) III is able to transfer in and out of high volume multifaceted interdepartmental units adapting well to changes in work assignments while consistently exceeding standards of quality and productivity expectations. The PAS III is knowledgeable and can be called upon to float to cover other functional areas within multiple PAS the departments. Work assignments of the PAS III may change without notice.   Daily tasks include any of the following: interviewing patients of all ages and/or their representatives, accurately entering and updating patient demographics; obtaining and scanning legal IDs, insurance cards, signed consent forms, third party liability documents, and advance care plans; obtaining electronic and/or phone benefit verifications, coordinating benefits, determining participating and non-participating insurance coverage, providing estimates, assisting patients with financial aid arrangements, collecting copayments and out of pocket payments; and resolving patient checklists and work queue encounters.   In addition to the above, daily tasks may also include: making appointments, transcribing MD orders, scheduling of follow-up tests procedures and/or appointments, providing patients with visit itinerary, signing-in, admitting and checking-out procedures, assisting with chart preparation, bed-planning, as well as, other Patient Access Specialist functions; like special project focus group team membership, or volunteering for department strategic plan initiatives or participating in teams like the PAS Employee Activities Council.
