Clinical Research Scientist, Musculoskeletal Research Candidate must be a PhD, MD, DPT or DO. This is how we attract and retain highly skilled professionals, renowned for their leadership and vision in clinical care, teaching, research, and development.   About this position:   HSS has a long tradition of groundbreaking basic and translation research in orthopedics and musculoskeletal research.  Given our current knowledge of disease, cutting edge technology and most importantly, patient need, we are now focused on building upon our clinical research.    HSS is uniquely positioned to accelerate clinical research for musculoskeletal diseases by leveraging: - Big data applications that utilize our extensive patient data in the Electronic Health Record and in multiple registries. - Machine learning and other artificial intelligence approaches to develop personalized, targeted treatment strategies. - Philanthropic support for the development of the Research Infrastructure and Team (Biobank, Biostatisticians, Research Assistants/Coordinators)   The ideal candidate should be an individual who has an established, independent research career in clinical research and/or population health science, and a strong track record of peer-reviewed extramural grant funding, particularly from NIH. - Knowledge of current clinical issues in musculoskeletal disorders and a vision for how to address these knowledge gaps to improve patient care and clinical outcomes. - Experience and expertise in analysis of complex data sets, machine learning, bioinformatics, population science, or outcomes research is preferred.  Other areas of interest include implementation science, design and execution of clinical trials, epidemiology, biostatistics, health services research or health disparities, or observational clinical research with a translational/mechanistic focus.   The ideal candidate will demonstrate: - Rigorous understanding of research methodology, study design and biostatistics. - A sustained track record of service as an outstanding mentor for junior investigators. - History of successful collaborations with basic, translational, clinical, and population health investigators in multiple disciplines including orthopedic surgery, biomechanics and/or imaging. - A broad knowledge of administrative, ethical and regulatory requirements for human subjects’ research.   Duties and Responsibilities: - Evaluate, expand and monitor current clinical research programs within orthopedics research program to report on the health and status of each program. - Oversee development of partnerships between clinicians, surgeons and basic/translational investigators at HSS and other institutions nationally and internationally. - Provide insight for new programmatic research themes and assist with the recruitment of new clinical research scientists. Support the development and retention of talented clinical and translational investigators. - Work to build comprehensive strategic efforts to better support our research mission including supporting the development of large multi-investigator program project grants. - As a contributing member of the Research Institute, develop and recruit core resources including administrative support, biostatistics, epidemiology, bioinformatics/big data development, machine learning, and biobank resources. - Facilitate development of collaborations with the Weill Cornell Medicine Clinical and Translational Sciences Center, which includes HSS as well as Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, Rockefeller University, and Hunter College. Central Sterile Processing Manager Day Shift (7:00 am - 3:00 pm)    Working in a dynamic and very busy Central Sterile Processing department the CSP shift manager partners with the AVP, of Central Sterile Processing managing the departments operations and staff members while performing sterile processing functions including decontamination, instrument assembly, sterilization, aseptic handling and distribution of products to various departments throughout the medical center.  The shift manager is responsible for employee time keeping (Kronos) system and scheduling and assigning work for CSP staff.  In addition the shift manager is responsible for monitoring and follow up on employee performance as part of the departmental KPI program. Shift managers are expected to be proficient in operating various automated systems used with the operations of the CSP department such as the instrument tracking system, the HR performance management system and the payroll management system.      The Shift Manager in CSP reports to the AVP of Central Sterile Processing.     Capabilities - Ability to quickly establish a trusting working relationship with the Sr. Director and CSP & OR Materials Management and Perioperative Management leadership teams. - Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with vendors and customers in the perioperative and nursing areas. - Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Assistant Vice President & Director of the HSS Center for the Advancement Value in Musculoskeletal Care   Summary   The Director of the HSS Center for the Advancement of Value in Musculoskeletal Care is responsible to track, forecast, and facilitate the highest level of performance for HSS on publicly reported quality/value ratings/rankings.  The Director will assist the Chief Value Medical Officer in developing the enterprise value strategy and proposition for external and internal stakeholders.  As the world leader in musculoskeletal health, HSS has consistently demonstrated exemplar performance on numerous measures of health care quality/value and is committed to further improve the quality/value of care delivered at HSS while advancing the science and meaningfulness of performance measurement.  The Director will report to the Chief Value Medical Officer in a highly visible role interacting regularly with the CEO, the Chiefs of Surgery and Medicine, Service Chiefs, and the Quality department.  It is expected that the Director will engage regularly with external quality assessment entities, participating as appropriate on national committees and advisory groups.  Position will be as Senior Director or Assistant Vice President pursuant to experience.   The Director will: - Maintain deep knowledge of external performance programs, their component measures and the data sources from which scores are calculated. - Track/forecast HSS performance on programs. - Analyze internal and external factors that impact performance scores and formulate improvement plans consistent with HSS Care standards. - Manage, distribute and enhance the reporting of performance data to relevant stakeholders, collaborating with the Operational Excellence and Information Technology teams to develop accessible, actionable and streamlined reporting. - Work with leaders across HSS to ensure best possible performance, consistent with HSS care standards, on externally reported performance by - Facilitating the Performance Steering Committee, composed of clinical and operational leaders, to identify improvement opportunities and oversee the successful implementation of quality improvement plans. - Providing project management for interdisciplinary performance enhancement teams. - Work with national performance measures organizations to advance the science and meaningfulness of performance measurement. - Track and analyze proposed changes to programs and engage with program developers to provide constructive feedback on changes proposed by the agencies and any other changes that would enhance the reliability or validity of measures/programs. - Seek out opportunities to participate on committees/advisory groups of national performance assessment entities. - Assist the Chief Value Medical Officer in the development of a vision for long-term performance excellence at HSS main campus and at satellite locations as HSS grows. - Maintain the HSS Value Proposition library which is used by the CEO, CMO, CVMO, CFO and other senior leaders to advance the value of HSS to external stakeholders.   The ideal candidate will have a passion for health care quality, fluency in all aspects of performance measures/measurement and the interest to engage with internal and external stakeholders to promote the production of the highest quality care and the development of measurement programs that support this mission.  The role requires extensive collaboration and the ability to translate sometimes complex analyses to stakeholders in order to affect change.

The successful RN candidate will be focused on – patient advocacy and delivering the highest quality of care to our patients!  Working in an evidence-based nursing environment that commands excellence every day,  RN's will provide comprehensive pre- and post-operative nursing care to our patients and their families in this acute care setting. Our core values center on respect, consideration, compassion for all individuals and maintaining awareness of diverse cultural and religious beliefs.  Your capacity to collaborate with the interdisciplinary team and promote the highest standards of care and safety is critical to the mission of Nursing in HSS.   Clinical Nurse Responsibilities - Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary health care teams to maintain the standards of professional nursing practices in a clinical setting - Collect comprehensive data on patients’ health (from patients and/or family members); Analyze data to determine needs & develop individualized care plans; update care plans based on progression and pathway as well as manage care delivery - Ensure that all prescriber orders are carried out appropriately and timely; work collaboratively with ancillary staff, including Patient Care Assistants - Integrate patient care standards in all clinical activities; participate in performance improvement activities to improve patient safety, quality of care and patient outcomes - Maintain sensitivity and awareness of cultural and religious diversity when addressing patients, visitors, co-workers and other customers - Promote a supportive and team-oriented environment - Support departmental responsibilities consistent with the long-range strategic plan, mission, vision and values of the hospital Clinical Nurse Minimum Requirements - BSN from an accredited school of nursing required - 1+ years’ of PACU, ICU, Step Down or ED Experience as a registered nurse - NYS RN license and registration required - AHA BLS, ACLS and PALS certification required Essential Qualifications - HCAHPS/EPIC knowledge preferred - Your scope of duties will include critical care clinical competence, incorporating physical and emotional assessments, age specific competency, critical thinking skills, and educating patients and their family members regarding their plan of care and clinical pathway. - Strong patient centered approach with emphasis on providing exemplary and world-class customer service - Meticulous attention to detail - Self-motivated and proactive; a team player who knows how to think critically in a fast-paced, challenging environment - Active participant in seeking solutions to problems Hospital for Special Surgery offers a unique work environment, diverse job types and extraordinary career opportunities.
