Sonographer

Overview
Our Ultrasound Division is a one-of-a-kind, innovative academic center where fellowship-trained musculoskeletal radiologists and specialized technologists utilize leading-edge diagnostic and treatment techniques in musculoskeletal ultrasound to provide exceptional patient care.
Our fellowship-trained radiologists are highly skilled in the interpretation of musculoskeletal ultrasound and routinely perform ultrasound-guided musculoskeletal interventional procedures. Our specialized technologists are uniquely trained in this high-volume musculoskeletal ultrasound practice. The Department focuses on both the imaging diagnosis of musculoskeletal conditions/diseases and the treatment of specific conditions utilizing image guidance.
Position Summary
The Sonographer position requires an individual trained at an accredited sonography program to apply learned skills to outpatient and inpatient procedures/studies in a hospital department setting. All functions are performed consistent with their education and training, and in accordance with facility, protocols, policies, and procedures, and applicable professional standards while ensuring the highest standards of safety for patients. The sonographer is also expected to properly store and maintain equipment, instruct patients on exams, and accurately log and document related information.
Qualifications
- Completion of an Accredited Sonography Program
- ARDMS Certified (American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography)
- Extensive sonography education, training, and experience in the specialty area(s) to be performed (MSK, abdomen, vascular preferred)
- Extensive clinical experience in providing sonography services and demonstrated ability to mentor and support staff sonographers
- Demonstrated commitment to professional growth and lifelong learning (e.g., continuing medical education in the specialty area(s) performed, advanced sonography education and training, higher education)
- Demonstrated proficiency with computer skills and software programs used for documentation and report generation
- Excellent organization and communication skills are essential

Biostatistician II
Full-Time
The Biostatistics and Bioinformatics Program in the HSS Research Institute seeks an MS-level Biostatistician, or equivalent, to provide comprehensive methodologic and analytic support to clinicians and basic scientists at the Hospital for Special Surgery. Under the direction of the Program Director and faculty, this biostatistician will provide statistical support for a variety of musculoskeletal and rheumatology research projects managed by Biostatistics faculty.
The successful candidate will play an important role in helping to fulfill HSS’s research agenda through collaboration with a multidisciplinary team of clinicians, translational scientists, engineers, and other statisticians. They will have opportunities for authorship on publications stemming from his/her work and will play a key role in producing and sharing results to the broader scientific community.
Essential Tasks and Responsibilities include:
- Assist in protocol development by helping to determine sound study design, computing sample size and power, and developing statistical analysis plans
- Perform statistical analyses as assigned by Biostatistics faculty
- Collaborate on developing grant applications and preparing presentations and manuscripts for publication
- Contribute to the educational initiatives directed at teaching biostatics and research design to medical students, residents, fellows, and Hospital staff
- Collaborate with data teams supporting clinical projects to help identify potential problems or issues with queries and assisting with their resolution
- Statistical programming in SAS, R, or similar software\Collaborate with other members of the Core by suggesting changes or improvements to existing analytic code, study design protocols, and any proposed analytic methods.
- Perform other related duties as assigned

Overview:
Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) is seeking to hire a per diem Licensed Massage Therapist (LMT) for a Manhattan Rehabilitation Centers. The opportunity is for 20 hours weekly occurring over a minimum of three (3) days per week. The candidate’s primary role is to provide medical and therapeutic massage to the following populations: pre/post orthopedic surgery; athletes recovering from injury as well as improving performance; non-operative orthopedic conditions commonly seen in a rehabilitation center.
The successful candidate should be comfortable working in an academic setting and collaborating with a staff of physical therapists and exercise physiologists. The candidate will be afforded optional opportunities for attending education conferences and participating in community outreach.

Job Summary:
The Laboratory of Dr. Park-Min (website: parkminlab.com) is seeking a part-time/fulltime research technician/study coordinator for the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City. The study coordinator will assist with the execution of clinical research trials and will be responsible for the collection, compilation, and documentation and collecting of research data, ensuring compliance and accurate adherence to research protocols and the overall practice of clinical trials. The study coordinator will process samples and analyze data. These positions provide opportunities to develop independent projects and obtain training and experience relevant for graduate, dental, or medical school. Positions are available beginning August 2022.
Responsibilities:
- Coordination of research projects under faculty supervision
- Screening patients for eligibility in clinical trials; recruiting and enrolling eligible patients in studies; reviewing patient history and recording appropriate pre-study laboratory data; obtaining laboratory blood work from patients and arranging other necessary testing; processing, storing, and shipping specimens; assisting in informed consent of patients in clinical trials; following up with study patients.

Researcher for Spine Surgery Applications
A position is available for a candidate at the Hospital for Special Surgery within the Khormaee Lab to start as soon as possible. The focus of the Khormaee Lab is the biologic/material interface in spinal devices. The ideal candidate would focus on assessment of biologic tissues, with a focus on cellular level dynamics, adjacent to implant surfaces. Candidates should have completed a bachelor’s degree in bioengineering or related field at the time of starting the position. Preference will be given to candidates with expertise in live cell imaging and cell/tissue engineering.

Clinical Research Coordinator
Full-Time
SUMMARY:
This individual will be an integral member of the Adult Reconstruction and Joint Replacement’s (ARJRs) Implant Longevity Thematic Research group in compliance with all regulatory, institutional, and departmental requirements. The Implant Longevity work is focused on the biological, biomechanical and surgical techniques that contribute to the long-term success of joint replacement surgery. Core areas of investigation include learning how we can promote better bone growth and healing, selecting increasingly personalized implant materials and designs and leveraging new technologies ranging from robotic approaches to wearable or implantable sensors, all in service of preventing implant failure for arthroplasty patients here at HSS and around the world.
Specific Duties:
The candidate will participate in all aspects of research management and quality assurance of data for the projects that will come out of the Implant Longevity Thematic Area. The candidate will play an integral role in day-to-day research activities and patient coordination ensuring efficient operations. This role will be expected to work in a collaborative environment across different disciplines to contribute to the advancement of the program and its research.
- Contributes to all aspects of Implant Longevity research:
- Protocol development
- Recruitment process (conducts informed consent process)
- The development and build of Clinical Research Forms
- Data collection
- Leads Initiation, logistics of study implementations
- Assures that research is done in an accurate, efficient, and compliant manner.
- Schedule and holds regular (weekly, biweekly, or monthly) meetings for study protocols.
Research study responsibilities:
- The Clinical Research Coordinator will provide basic support for new & ongoing related research studies. This includes but is not limited to screening, conducting informed consent process on low risk studies (requires appropriate training and certification of human research subjects training), handling collection and processing of samples, and spearheading efforts to meet patient enrollment targets for research studies.
- The coordinator will be required to execute IRB and CRP submissions for initial approvals, re-approvals, amendments, etc… Ensures timeliness and accuracy of submissions and no lapses in approvals for the study.
- Research Coordinator will oversee Implant Longevity databases and work closely with the Hospital’s Analytic team. Information from robotics cases performed during surgery will be collected by a Research Assistant. However, opportunities may arise which will also require the coordinator to enter the operating room for research purposes.
- Collaborates with the research team and research administration, as needed, to ensure that research subjects are treated in accordance with all mandated requirements. Ensures that standards regarding subject registration, protocol specific tests, and required documentation are adhered to. Reports deviations as appropriate and resolves issues when possible under the supervision of the ARJR Research Director.
- Performs literature reviews in preparation for investigator-initiated studies; assists PI with drafting protocols, abstracts, presentations and manuscripts as needed
The successful applicant for the position of Clinical Research Coordinator will be knowledgeable about technology related advancements in the Orthopaedic field. He or she must be an organized individual who is able to work autonomously to perform a variety of different tasks as well as have strong analytical and organization. He or she will be flexible, as the job description may evolve. The Research Coordinator will have access to the medical records of patients, and should appreciate this privilege, and maintain strict confidentiality with all patient medical data. The Research Coordinator will also have good interpersonal and communications skills, as he or she will be interfacing directly with patients and medical staff on a routine basis.
