Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) PAs and NPs are committed to personalized, high-quality healthcare and are held to the same legal and ethical standards of care as physicians. Autonomously and in collaboration with healthcare professionals and other individuals, the PA or NP provides a full range of primary, acute, and specialty healthcare services, including: - Diagnosing and treating acute and chronic conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, infections, and injuries - Ordering, performing, and interpreting diagnostic tests such as lab work and x-rays - Prescribing medications and other treatments - Managing patients' overall care - Counseling - Educating patients on disease prevention and positive health and lifestyle choices HSS PAs or NPs serve pediatric and adult patients in an extensive range of practice settings throughout the hospital and its local and regional ambulatory sites. The Department focuses on both the imaging diagnosis of musculoskeletal conditions/diseases and the treatment of specific conditions utilizing image guidance.   Position Summary The Sonographer position requires an individual trained at an accredited sonography program to apply learned skills to outpatient and inpatient examinations in a hospital department setting. Per diem shifts are typically for weekend coverage (Saturday and Sunday). Common examinations will include extremity venous doppler and abdominal ultrasound. The sonographer is also expected to properly store and maintain equipment, instruct patients on exams, and accurately log and document related information. All functions are performed consistent with their education and training, and in accordance with facility, protocols, policies, and procedures, and applicable professional standards while ensuring the highest standards of safety for patients.   Qualifications - Completion of an Accredited Sonography Program - ARDMS (American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography) certified or eligible - Sonography education, training, and experience in the specialty area(s) to be performed (Vascular, general abdominal preferred.
