This requires coordination with both the research subject, either by phone, email, or mail per compliance and with physician office staff and ancillary departments (radiology, operating room staff, pathology, etc.). - Ensures accuracy of personnel transcribing data from a paper case report form (CRF) into an electronic format.   - Manages and executes IRB submissions for initial approvals, re-approvals, amendments, etc. Ensures timeliness and accuracy of submissions and no lapses in approvals for the study.  Directs research assistants in this effort as well. - Coordinates with Principal Investigator, ancillary department, central research administration, and compliance office to help ensure that clinical research and related activities are performed in accordance with federal and HSS regulations and sponsoring agency policies and procedures. - Performs advanced data queries when needed. Provides timely reports to Institutional Review Board, Principal Investigator, and sponsor for each research project. - Participates in the development of new protocols, prospective databases and new initiatives taken on by the department.  This may include independent design of databases and tools to facilitate data collection as required for specific projects (calendars, schedules, tracking logs). - Represents the Principal Investigator in departmental audits as well as external audits performed by representatives of the sponsor for each clinical research project.  Works closely with HSS internal monitor for guidance on these activities. - Collaborates with the research team and research administration, as needed, to ensure that research subjects are treated in accordance with all mandated requirements.  Ensures that standards regarding subject registration, protocol specific tests, and required documentation are adhered to.  Reports deviations as appropriate and resolves issues when possible.  Escalates issues to supervisor as needed. - Prioritizes and schedules work activities to ensure that workflow is controlled and meets the need of the department. Communicates and maintains institutional/departmental policies, standard operating procedures, quality standards, improvement initiatives and external legal regulations/regulatory requirements.  - Knowledge of good clinical practice for the handling of specimens and blood may be required. - Maintains and enhances professional growth through participation in seminars, professional affiliations, and internal training sessions to keep abreast of trends in the field of research data management. A qualified candidate has the ability to communicate in an effective manner with management, clinical staff, external sponsors and patients at HSS.      MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS: Education/Training:   - Master’s degree - ACRP, SOCRA, or similar certification preferred Experience:                 - 2-5 years’ experience in clinical research - Statistical experience, preferably using SAS - Proficient use of computers and software - Knowledge of Orthopaedic terminology is preferred but not required.  Qualifications: The successful candidate must have at least 2 years’ experience in Clinical Research. Strong organizational and problem solving skills as well as excellent written and communication skills are essential. The process is complex due to the vast amounts and variety of surgical instruments found in each tray and meeting the demand of our very busy operating rooms here at HSS. This is a non-clinical tenure track position at HSS with a commensurate faculty position (Assistant-Associate-Full Professor) at Weill Cornell Medicine.   The successful candidate will take initiative to independently develop a research program within our collaborative, multidisciplinary environment, contribute to research leadership initiatives across the institution, and serve as an academic collaborator and mentor within and outside the hospital.    We are seeking a candidate with experience in implementation science, preferably with a background in global health. We invite candidates whose research is focused on education science, education-based interventions and assessment of related outcomes.   Areas of research interest include:  Designing, developing and implementing effective educational interventions for patients and healthcare providers  Designing, developing and implementing validated surveys for outcomes research Assessing the effectiveness of content and implementation strategies   Assessing barriers and/or facilitators to implementing evidence-based educational interventions and practices across the musculoskeletal care continuum Goals / Responsibilities: - Lead, coordinate, and manage MedEd, global health, clinical, QA/PI, and point-of-care (PoCUS) research - Seek and pursue opportunities for collaboration within HSS, Weill Cornell Medicine and with external entities, with an emphasis on innovation, patient-centered outcomes and best-practices - Pursue and obtain external funding for research activities including peer reviewed grants and industry sponsored projects - Participate actively on extramural academic and research committees and in meetings/lectures in order to gain national and international recognition as a thought-leader in the field of musculoskeletal health - Supervise and mentor faculty, trainees, and staff as appropriate - Foster productive relationships with scientists, anesthesiologists, surgeons, rheumatologists, and colleagues in the Research Institute, and develop strong collaborative relationships with core study teams including biostats, data analysts and research assistants - Ensure that all research projects are appropriately reviewed by the IRB and are regulatory compliant with policies on human subject research - Conceptualize, plan and execute patient outcomes-based research for the purpose of quality improvement - Quantify trends in tracked cases to identify areas to promote evidence-based practice improvement strategies or clinical pathway development - Assess departmental perceptions of peer-review processes and peer support pre- and post- change implementation strategies - Evaluate the implementation of various educational initiatives and their effects on trainees, instructors, and other learners - Assist in developing and implementing extramural (local, national, global) educational outreach - Develop needs assessment and satisfaction surveys with psychometric validity and curriculum pre-post evaluations that conform to appropriate qualitative reporting frameworks and quantitative (experimental, epidemiological and correlational) designs (e.g. Kirkpatrick and Re-AIM methods) - Qualitative and quantitative study of the current regional anesthesia curriculum and the specific HSS experience   Ideal candidate will have: - Advanced degree (PhD, MD, EdD) with training in education, behavioral science, decision sciences, psychology, organizational behavior, or other related fields with a focus on dissemination and implementation science - Preferably 3 years of prior research experience, preferably in a hospital or industry setting - History of successfully securing external peer-reviewed funding; experience with NIH and grant submissions and/or industry-sponsored research - Proven track record of successful study design, execution and completion - Ability to synthesize clinical research and communicate ideas in oral or written form clearly and concisely to varied audiences - Experience leading a multidisciplinary team and effectively collaborating within and across departments and institutions - Experience with statistical programs, REDCap and Epic EMR - Knowledge of translational research and interest in collaborating with basic laboratory scientists - Familiarity with or interest in evaluating educational initiatives across broad topics and populations - Experience with a variety of implementation theories, models and frameworks, and a variety of evaluative and data analysis methods, including hybrid implementation-effectiveness trial designs - Candidates with relevant research experience as evidenced by peer-reviewed publications and research funding success will be prioritized

Working with colleagues who love what they do and are deeply committed to our Mission, you too can be part of our transformation across the enterprise.   Surgical Tech I Full-time   Ensuring the delivery of the highest quality of patient care, you will provide support to our Magnet surgical team. Your duties will include: assisting physicians and nurses in surgery using best practices of sterile technique, assembling, maintaining and tracking surgical instruments and equipment; and inspecting all packaged items to ensure integrity. We'll also rely on you to conduct pre-op, intra-op and post-op surgical counts according to AORN standards and maintaining the integrity of the surgical field during procedures. Your capacity to collaborate with your team to promote the highest standards of patient safety is critical to the mission of HSS.   Minimum Requirements - High School diploma or equivalent and be a graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program - NBSTSA Certification required - American Heart Associate Heartsaver required - One year of experience required Essential Qualifications - Meticulous attention to detail - Self-motivated and proactive; a team player who knows how to think critically in a fast-paced, challenging environment - Active participant in seeking solutions to problems
