Under the direction of the Core Director, this analyst will provide study design and statistical analysis support for a variety of projects for the HSS Physiatry Department and other service lines at HSS. This role will contribute to the advancement of research with a multidisciplinary team of physicians dedicated to treating musculoskeletal conditions. This position will leverage unique healthcare data and implement appropriate study design, evaluation tools, and methods associated with various research projects with the purpose of impacting the quality of overall patient outcomes at Hospital for Special Surgery. Additionally, this position will collaborate and advise faculty on the appropriate statistical methods and ultimately apply them to research design and outcomes analysis. The analyst will have opportunities for authorship on publications stemming from his/her work and will play a key role in producing and sharing the results the broader scientific community. Essential Tasks/Responsibilities: • Assist in protocol development by implementing proper study design methodology, performing sample size and power calculations, and generating randomization schedules. • Make recommendations for appropriate statistical analyses and design to investigators and study team. • Perform statistical queries, analyses, and evaluation as assigned through the Biostatistics Core. • Responsible for accuracy and timeliness of summary reports, tables, and figures to investigators and study team. • Collaborate on grants, presentations and manuscripts submitted for publication, including writing methods sections and analysis plans for incorporation into protocol and grant submissions. • Contribute to teaching biostatistical methodology to medical students, residents, fellows, and other Hospital staff. • Stay informed of statistical techniques as applied to musculoskeletal research issues by reading journals and/or attending courses/programming meetings. • Collaborate with other members of the Core by suggesting changes or improvements to existing analytic code, study design protocols, and any proposed analytic methods. Education/Experience   • Master's Degree in related field of epidemiology or biostatistics. • 1-2 years required (1-3 years preferred) of biostatistical consulting experience, either within the academic curriculum or as part of a consulting service unit. • Experience in musculoskeletal research is preferred.   Competencies   • SAS is the preferred statistical package within the HSS Biostatistics Core, but candidates with experience in other statistical packages (R, SPSS, Stata) are encouraged to apply. • Intermediate proficiency in data preparation, descriptive analyses, comparative statistics, and advanced statistical modeling. • Possess the ability to facilitate the flow of information through effective written and oral communication. • Possess ability to interpret technical medical data and generate sound recommendations to support clinical research efforts. • Maintain ability to work independently and take responsibility for timeliness of analytic reports and other deliverables. • Demonstrate good organization skills, effective time management, and the ability to manage several concurrent tasks. • Maintain a team-oriented approach and possesses the ability to cultivate a positive and collegial workplace relationships – demonstrating integrity and ethics at all times. • Appreciate and understand the connection between individual goals, departmental goals and the organizational mission – while continually seeking ways to improve personally and as a team.

Dr. Danyal H. Nawabi is an Orthopedic Surgeon on the Sports Medicine and Shoulder Service at Hospital for Special Surgery. He is a specialist in the fields of knee, hip, and shoulder surgery, performing both arthroscopic surgery and joint replacement. Serving as an assistant to Dr. Nawabi, duties will include assisting with patient evaluations, treatments, patient and family education, and first assist in the operating room.  You will interact closely with patients and families and be an integral part of developing great patient and collegial relationships.    Competencies/Duties: - Perform complete and accurate history and physical exams. - Serve as 1st/2nd assistant to surgeon in operating room. - Conduct outpatient evaluation, treatment and follow-up of surgical patients as directed by the supervising physician. - Provide post-operative and discharge education to patients and family members with regards to safety issues when applicable (e.g., medication, post-operative precautions, use of equipment, etc.). - Communicate effectively and appropriately when educating patient/family with regard to their medical condition and/or hospital course. - Document progress patient has made toward desired outcomes. - Utilize the computerized order communication system, including transcription of medical orders, retrieval of test results and documentation of results. - Maintain clear and legible history and physical documentation and all other written reports. - Work independently on assigned tasks with minimal supervision. - Promote cooperation through teamwork. - Must be able to travel to NYC and Long Island offices Qualifications:   Candidate must have New York State PA Licensing.   Graduation from an accredited PA program, current NY licensure, BLS/ACLS certification and NCCPA board certification are required.  Previous experience as a neurosurgical PA highly desired.   Also, the candidate must have current Infection Control Certification and have completed a child abuse recognition course. The PA must have excellent communication skills and be a team player. It is essential that the candidate possess strong clinical skills.

Meaningful use of audits and purple team/penetration/vulnerability assessment findings. - Assist in implementing HSS GRC tool. - Act as a SME for Cyber Security audits performed by external clients. - Maintain a formal risk register which drives security governance and ensures security funding is aligned with business objectives. - Develop Key Risk Indicators which highlight top cyber risks for the organization to executive management and the board and Key Performance Indicators that demonstrate success of the security program along with its alignment to NIST and industry best practices. - Work collaboratively with the other Managers, Directors, CMIO, CIO, Service Line Leads, Steering Committees and other key partners to manage Cyber Security risks. - Assist in developing and contributing to a formal next generation security education and awareness program that delivers role-based security education, is based on gamification concepts and leads to measurable improvement in building a risk aware culture at all levels. Your primary focus will be performing diagnostic medical radiography on patients of all age categories. This will entail radiographic examinations using stationary and/or mobile equipment, while ensuring the highest standards of safety for patients. We will also rely on you to properly store and maintain equipment, instruct patients on exams, and accurately log and document related information.   Qualifications: ARRT - Registered Technologist Certification (RT); NYS license and registration of license at NYS DOH (LRT) Flexible working hours and excellent organization and communication skills are essential.   CT/OR experience preferred.
