The Patient Access Specialist is an expert in customer service and ensuring patient needs are met at the end of the visit. Specific responsibilities include: - Providing patients with documentation and printed materials related to their visit and treatment plan; - Prioritizing patient flow including directing patients to other locations within the hospital or facilitating transportation services for patients if needed; - Referring patients to hospital services as needed (ie financial navigation); - Collecting copays/payments and depositing all collections with hospital cashiers; - Verifying insurance and obtaining benefit information; - Scheduling appointments; - Facilitating scheduling and authorizations for urgent patient needs in conjunction with Practice Coordinators; - Addressing any patient concerns that remain after the end of the visit; - Providing back-up support to other staff as needed; - Providing exceptional customer service to all patients, visitors and customers; - Additional administrative responsibilities as directed by the physician, the supervisor or department leadership. Fundraising areas of focus include the departments of Professional Education, Community Education and Outcomes, and Academic Training, as well as the Education Institute as a whole.  She/he/they will report to the Vice President of the HSS Education Institute.    Responsibilities include but are not limited to:   Strategic Planning and Relationship-building - Cultivate and steward high level relationships with companies and organizations that support the mission of HSS and the Education Institute - Identify and secure funding for Education Institute programs from sources such as pharmaceutical and medical device companies, private foundations, and government agencies - Identify and secure funding sources through relationships with faculty and services within HSS and EI Dept heads - Develop and maintain oversight attaining benchmarks for annual Education Institute fundraising strategic plan that complements the EI strategic plan - Create fundraising and sponsorship packages that mutually benefit EI, HSS and funders - Collaborate on fundraising efforts with HSS Development Department that include private foundations and HSS Alumni Association - Track and analyze annual EI revenue from multiple funding sources within and outside HSS including monthly interest on endowed funds, alumni dues, lab and academic visitor fees, corporate grants, exhibit fees and foundation grants. - Lead the monthly Education Institute Finance Committee in collaboration with VP to keep abreast of funding needs to support staffing and critical programmatic expenses - Nurture the “new funding” Education Institute task force developed to engage stakeholders within the Education Institute to collaborate on identifying innovative fundraising strategies Operational - Develop and submit funding proposals for grant, exhibit, sponsorship, and in-kind donations, as well as reconcile final budget reports - Conduct prospect research to identify new sources of funding including foundations and industry - Create revenue projection reports and funding status reports on a monthly cadence - Secure and manage Letters of Agreement for Continuing Medical Education Grants ACCME Standards for Commercial Support - Ensure HSS compliance with ACCME’s Standards for Commercial Support

He specializes in the treatment of hip disorders, such as hip dysplasia, in patients ranging from newborns to adults. Hip disorders he evaluates include hip dysplasia (DDH) which can affect newborns and adults but also hip pain, labral tears, Perthes disease, and Slipped Capital Femoral Epiphysis (SCFE). In this role you will provide comprehensive administrative support to an HSS physician practice and contribute to an environment of clinical excellence. You will be responsible for maintaining and improving the clinical and administrative workflow of a busy surgical orthopedic practice. Your duties will entail coordinating all aspects of surgical coordination; anticipating the needs of patients as they arise.  A working knowledge of insurance carriers, deductibles, co-insurances, authorizations, in-network vs out-of-network benefits is necessary to successfully communicate with patients and collect for the practice. Additionally, you will schedule and coordinate patient appointments and schedule surgeries for the purposes of cross-coverage.  Position also requires the management of physician’s calendar, travel schedule. expense reimbursement and receipt processing, check requests too. Responsibilities are as follows:   Arthroplasty Implants: - Receives and documents implants requested by the circulating nurse for surgery - Picks and dispense implants to the circulating nurse for surgery - Deliver implants/supplies to operating rooms as needed - Reconciles all unused implants returned from surgery - Perform inventory counts on loaner implant systems as needed - Acts as a resource person for circulating nurses regarding arthroplasty implants and surgical supplies   Implant Trays: - Inspect used implant trays to determine what is missing - Re-stock all implants trays appropriately - Log all implants ordered for implant trays in tray tracking software system (Google Drive) - Review tray tracking software systems to determine tray usability status for next day’s OR schedule Inventory Management: - Re-order implants and surgical supplies according to pre-determined par levels. - Initiates purchase requisitions for implants and surgical supplies - Monitors back ordered implants and supplies - Contacts vendor representative for assistance prior to a stock outage as a result of a back order situation - Places implants and supplies received into stock - Checks the inventory for soon to expire items and removes them from stock - Maintain data in the inventory management system software (Qsight) by performing inventory cycle counts according to departmental needs - Transport wire carts containing complete implant systems from one floor to another as the operative schedule calls for.   Operative Surgical Schedule review: - Review the 48 hours and next day’s operative schedule for implant and supply needs. - Update the Epic implant status and white communication boards - Complete the list of implant trays that are needed for surgery the following day - Hand off any incomplete task to the Implant Technician Coordinator or designee for follow up   Monitoring of Loaner bins in Implant Room (4W-025) - Label all loaner systems - Determine if loaner implants are needed for surgery that day - Notify the vendor representative if loaners are left over after surgery
