The Director will support the advancement of key priorities of the Research Leadership Committee, including strategic opportunities aligned with growth and performance defined by the Clinical Research Advisory Council. The Director leads the development and ongoing analysis of performance measures related to growing the HSS research enterprise, including but not limited to operational process improvement and metrics.   This individual works within Research Administration and supports Clinical Department and Ancillary Services to develop and continuously optimize all research operations functions and recruitment of Clinical Research Scientists. This individual also provides oversight and direct management of the Quality Assurance and Regulatory Team within Research Administration in close partnership with the institutional HSS IRB working to ensure quality assurance and quality improvement measures across the research enterprise.   In addition, the position will act as the subject matter expert and liaison between the Clinical Research staff and other ancillary departments on key enterprise initiatives. The Director identifies strengths, gaps and inefficiencies, recommends clinical and operational process improvements, and rigorously audits to assure efficiency and effectiveness. This position is responsible for leading cost effective, high quality, combining disciplined business process and information technology that deliver value to members while supporting the research staff with education, tools, and standardized workflows.   Duties & Responsibilities - Responsible for successful and efficient operations - Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams and identifies areas for improvement - Assembles cross functional work groups to work to create process/performance improvements - Ensure alignment of plans with key priorities and relevant stakeholders - Define and manage deliverables and timelines of initiatives and projects - Maintain SOP’s and workflows - Understand clinical research regulatory requirements - Oversee routine and for cause audits identified by research billing, operations and the IRB - Manage research integrity inquires and misconduct audits collaborating with legal and the IRB - Oversee research related institutional onboarding for all new research personnel within the HSS research enterprise - Assist in the recruitment and onboarding of key research professionals including scientists and investigators - Provide subject matter expertise, education and training to the HSS IRB on the protection of human subjects research and regulatory strategy - Responsible for successful and efficient implementation of initiatives and projects - Drive execution of new research operations to support ongoing initiatives - Drive operational excellence solutions to yield highest level of research efficiency, clinician proficiency and correlated business and clinical outcomes - Provide a voice and perspective for internal stakeholders, C-suite executives, and external partners - Support leadership team to develop strategic direction and guide growth - Apply a continuous data driven with quality focus - Maintain clinical, operational and financial metrics - Maintain & update dashboards for reviewing key performance indicators - Monitor and present on progress of project goals and metrics - Manage Vendor/Consultant relationships
