Work assignments of the PAS III may change without notice.   Responsibilities:   Daily tasks include any of the following: interviewing patients of all ages and/or their representatives, accurately entering and updating patient demographics; obtaining and scanning legal IDs, insurance cards, signed consent forms, third party liability documents, and advance care plans; obtaining electronic and/or phone benefit verifications, coordinating benefits, determining participating and non-participating insurance coverage, providing estimates, assisting patients with financial aid arrangements, collecting copayments and out of pocket payments; and resolving patient checklists and work queue encounters.   In addition to the above, daily tasks may also include: making appointments, transcribing MD orders, scheduling of follow-up tests procedures and/or appointments, providing patients with visit itinerary, signing-in, admitting and checking-out procedures, assisting with chart preparation, bed-planning, as well as, other Patient Access Specialist functions; like special project focus group team membership, or volunteering for department strategic plan initiatives or participating in teams like the PAS Employee Activities Council.

The Case Manager applies clinical expertise and core knowledge domains of case management into daily practice. Data is interpolated from patient/ family assessments, the interdisciplinary care team and medical record to evaluate the patient's inpatient plan of care, progress along clinical pathways and care guidelines and discharge plan. Collaborates with the patient/ family, interdisciplinary care team, medical staff, payers, and post discharge providers to facilitate and coordinate patient specific evidenced-based care. Patient care is transitioned through communication and appropriate referral to the next provider of care.   Requirements   The qualified candidate will possess a minimum of 2 to 3 years clinical nursing experience coupled with knowledge of case management, with emphasis on discharge planning. The ability to problem solve, multi-task and manage projects independently is a must. Knowledge of regulatory and insurance standards and protocols as well as proficiency in utilizing evidence based guidelines.  Current NYS RN licensure and Bachelor's degree in Nursing or related field is required. CCM certification highly desirable.

The interpreter will also provide sight translation of documents, including but not limited to, consent forms and educational material. The Interpreter must be able to work well under pressure and react quickly to solve complex linguistic and ethical problems as they arise. The interpreter should interpret in an accurate and complete manner; and should follow the Code of Ethics and the National Standards of Practice for Medical Interpreters. The interpreter should have an extended knowledge of specialty medical terminology and be able to perform independently in a fast pace environment. Medical interpreters will translate written materials from source to target language in a precise way. Our CSP department is responsible for decontaminating, inspecting, assembling, packaging, sterilizing and safely transporting reusable surgical instruments to our surgical areas. CSP also provides disposable medical supplies to the perioperative areas via surgical case carts.     The mission is to provide customers with products that are 100% clean, complete, sterile and delivered on time. The process is complex due to the vast amounts and variety of surgical instruments found in each tray and meeting the demand of our very busy operating rooms here at HSS. The CSP team prides themselves in being engaged and compliant to regulatory standards for quality and patient safety in order to deliver the best service and products for patients that come to HSS.   In the Central Sterile Technician role, we rely on you to adhere to the mission by ensuring the delivery of our world-renowned patient care, and providing sterile supplies, instruments and equipment required for patients undergoing orthopedic surgical interventions. You will support all patient care areas by properly processing surgical equipment using washers, sterilizers, dryers, and heat sealers. The processing and logging of implants and loaner sets of instruments is also vital to your contribution.
