Working with colleagues who love what they do and are deeply committed to our Mission, you too can be part of our transformation across the enterprise   Program Associate, VOICES Medicaid Education Program Full-Time   Position Summary:  The primary responsibility of the Program Associate is to assist patients in accessing and maintaining HSS's specialty care by providing education and advocacy related to New York State Medicaid managed care programs, as well as seeking insurance authorization for care. This includes patient education, collaboration with patients’ primary care physicians and the HSS health care team, insurance companies, and community/government services.     Specific Functions: - Provide education and advocacy in Ambulatory Care Center (ACC) clinics to primarily low-income, chronically ill patients and their families regarding their options under Medicaid managed care. - Provide assistance, advocacy and intervention to patients with out-of-network insurance seeking care at the ACC. - Proactively identify re-visit patients with out-of-network Medicaid prior to their medical visits, and request authorization for care from managed care insurance companies. - Collaborate with the HSS health care team and staff, including doctors, nurses, social workers, registrars and surgical schedulers, to best meet patients’ insurance related needs. - Make appropriate referrals to HSS programs and services, such as the Financial Assistance Program and Social Work, and community-based agencies, such as New York State of Health Insurance Marketplace and NYC Human Resources Administration. - Collect program data, including documentation of patient contacts and interventions. - Assist in developing public insurance related education materials for patients and staff. - Serve as an active participant in Social Work Programs Department, committees and job-related meetings. - Participate in special projects and additional duties as needed, including activities related to departmental and Hospital Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives.   Qualifications:   Applicant must have exceptional interpersonal skills and be highly committed to providing access to, and equity in, patient care, excellent patient education and advocacy, and close team collaboration. Passion for the values of diversity, equity, and inclusion, consistent with our Department’s and Hospital’s mission, is essential. Must be able to work independently after a period of orientation, with an Associate’s or preferably a Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 2 years of health care related experience, especially related to public insurance. Computer literacy, including proficiency with all Microsoft Office applications, familiarity with electronic medical records, focus on detail and excellent written, verbal, and organizational skills are required. This role is designed for an experienced IT leader who thrives on projects, collaboration and interdisciplinary teams.   The Senior Director of Applications is a leader in the IT Department.  He/She is responsible for multiple teams and a portfolio of software and technologies.  The Sr. Director is accountable to key leaders in the organization, helping define and govern the priorities, spending and activities of the IT Department.  He/she serves as an advisor to the organization on application strategy and delivery, and a representative of the entire IT department.  This role is accountable for executing the technology goals of hospital leadership, and championing HSS’ project management methodology.  As a leader in the Department, the Senior Director often oversees complex programs involving multiple teams and many users.  The Sr. Director is responsible for the success of his/her team and the success of the department, helping analysts, managers and directors balance the daily requirements and strategic priorities of the organization.    Responsibilities - Oversee all aspects of HSS’ Revenue Cycle solutions, including Epic (Cadence, Grand Central, Resolute HB, Resolute PB, Claims.) - Partner with Patient Accounting, Patient Access, Clinical and Business Units to ensure that application development and deployment is performed in an efficient, cost effective and technically sound manner while meeting the needs and goals of the organization - Lead strategic projects, working closely with operational leadership on deployment of new technologies, Epic optimization, geographic expansion, and new service offerings - Operate as a thought leader for the hospital on Revenue Cycle technologies, and the use of technology to best meet the needs of users and achieve enterprise goals - Research, plan, develop and implement technical solutions to satisfy the goals and objectives of the department and hospital and to enhance productivity; communicate recommendations - Serve as a key resource on HSS’ digital road map, deploying and supporting patient facing solutions in Epic and other solutions, in collaboration with the Digital team and other teams in IT - Work as a leader in the department, helping achieve department goals on budgeting, administration, learning, staff retention and employee development - Oversee support of ongoing operations (level 2 and 3 support, required upgrades, reports and queries, necessary project work, etc.) - Establish policies, procedures and standards to measure and monitor the success of applications, databases and production processes; continually strive to improve existing policies; identify areas of improvement and provide action plans when appropriate - Establish customer service standards and, while leading by example, promote and enforce adoption of standards to staff - Serve as escalation point for all project and operation issues; maintain HSS’s high standard for exceptional customer service & communication to all staff while providing resolutions;  inform customers of work progress, ensure timeliness and accuracy - Build and direct the Revenue Cycle Systems team: determine team structure; hire staff as needed; ensure proper onboarding, staff engagement and retention. Ensure a common vision, plan and goal are maintained across all areas of the project - Develop staff in accordance with position accountabilities and Hospital for Special Surgery’s standard of excellence; schedule and assign work; provide timely and high quality performance feedback Requirements - Bachelor’s degree required, and advanced degree preferred - Prior experience implementing and supporting Epic Revenue Cycle Solutions essential - 10+ years’ progressive Revenue Cycle and Information Technology experience - 5+ years’ experience in a Director level role; ability to demonstrate strong leadership within matrixed teams - Detailed knowledge of Patient Accounting in an inpatient setting (specific experience in New York State billing ideal) - Expert knowledge of healthcare information technology project management including selection, implementation, maintenance and strategic planning - Proven track record of successfully delivering projects on-time and on-budget - PMP/ Project Management Certification a definite plus Elements of a Successful Candidate - Strong communicator who interacts well with both application and technical team members - Process-oriented with a critical eye for detail - Exceptional organizational skills to manage complex changes with a variety of interdependent pieces - Self-motivated, detail-oriented and pragmatic; a team player who is analytical and solution-focused - Superior oral, written and non-verbal communication skills; ability to forge and maintain strong professional relationships - Inquiring mind; continuously pursues professional development, innovation and opportunities for improvement

The RA or PostBac Fellow will participate in basic and translational research projects in immunology, inflammation and autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis and lupus. We investigate cellular and molecular pathways that activate innate immune cells such as macrophages, and the role of inflammation in tissue damage, repair and stem cell function. The Ivashkiv laboratory uses cutting edge immunology, molecular biology and genomic techniques. These positions provide opportunities to develop independent projects and obtain training and experience to prepare for graduate or medical school; the Post-Baccalaureate Researcher Program www.hss.edu/post-baccalaureate-training-program.asp offers more formal training in science and opportunities to present research at conferences and write manuscripts for publication.
