Central Sterile Technician

At the Hospital for Special Surgery, Central Service Professionals play an integral part of patient safety and contributing to our low infections rates. Our CSP department is responsible for decontaminating, inspecting, assembling, packaging, sterilizing and safely transporting reusable surgical instruments to our surgical areas. CSP also provides disposable medical supplies to the perioperative areas via surgical case carts.
The mission is to provide customers with products that are 100% clean, complete, sterile and delivered on time. The process is complex due to the vast amounts and variety of surgical instruments found in each tray and meeting the demand of our very busy operating rooms here at HSS. The CSP team prides themselves in being engaged and compliant to regulatory standards for quality and patient safety in order to deliver the best service and products for patients that come to HSS.
In the Central Sterile Technician role, we rely on you to adhere to the mission by ensuring the delivery of our world-renowned patient care, and providing sterile supplies, instruments and equipment required for patients undergoing orthopedic surgical interventions. You will support all patient care areas by properly processing surgical equipment using washers, sterilizers, dryers, and heat sealers. The processing and logging of implants and loaner sets of instruments is also vital to your contribution.

Overview:
Dr. Brian Chalmersis an orthopedic surgeon specializing in hip and knee musculoskeletal care, including primary hip and knee replacement, partial knee replacement, complex and revision hip and knee replacement, and periprosthetic fractures and infections. Dr. Chalmers is trained in manual, computer-navigated, and robotic surgical techniques to achieve individualized patient treatment goals. He uses the latest surgical methods, medical research, and perioperative rapid-recovery and pain management protocols to provide the best possible care and outcomes for his patients.
Dr. Chalmers is seeking a full-time NP or PA to join his team. The NP/PA will serve as a primary assistant to the doctor. Duties will include clinical evaluation of patients in the office, counseling patients and their families regarding proposed surgical procedures as well as addressing pre-and post-operative patient questions and concerns. There are no weekend shifts or overnight call, however, effective communication with the outpatient staff and inpatient hospital teams is essential. The NP/PA will interact closely with office staff, other PAs, patients and families to be an integral part of providing a high level of clinical care and service.
There will be an opportunity to first assist if desired, for candidates that are Physician Assistants or Nurse Practitioners who have an RNFA, but it is not a requirement of the job.

The Interventional Ultrasound Radiology Procedures Unit at our state of the art Stamford outpatient facility performs non-operative treatment & diagnostic procedures on patients who need pain management of sports-related injuries, and other musculoskeletal problems. The image-guided procedures performed are conducted by a board-certified radiologist with a support team of nurses and technologists. The procedures and treatments performed include intramuscular and subcutaneous trigger/tender point injections, Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) injections, diagnostic and therapeutic injections, musculoskeletal and joint injection/aspirations, nerve blocks, etc.
As an integral member of our Magnet Nursing team, the successful RN candidate will be focused on – patient advocacy and delivering the highest quality of care to our patients! Working in an evidence-based nursing environment that commands excellence daily, you will provide comprehensive pre- and post-operative nursing care to our patients and their families in this acute care setting. Overview:
Supporting the delivery of the highest quality of patient care, you will work in our state-of-the-art imaging facilities. Your primary focus will be to operate a magnetic resonance scanner to obtain images for use by physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of patients of all age categories. This will entail MRI examinations using GE equipment, while ensuring the highest standards of safety for patients. We will also rely on you to properly store and maintain equipment, instruct patients on exams, and accurately log and document related information.

Responsibilities:
- Participates in daily patient rounds for patients on the Perioperative Pain Service.
- Performs preoperative consults on patients with chronic pain conditions, including long-term opioid use or history of substance use disorder
- Provides health care, teaching, counseling and treatment to patients, including assessments of patients’ medical, pharmacological and psychosocial needs.
- Monitors and evaluates the patient’s treatment and health care plan for effectiveness and modifies as necessary.
- Coordinates admission and discharge for pain management inpatients, including obtaining relevant information regarding medication and ensuring that appropriate discharge prescriptions and follow up appointments are made.
- Assists the supervising physician in coordinating management plan.
- Documents all assessments, findings, progress and care provided in the electronic medical record.
- Refers relevant clinical issues to the supervising physician.
- Works collaboratively with all nursing and hospital staff and other hospital staff as required.
- Educates nursing staff on uses related to pain management, including distribution of articles and education materials of interest.
- Adheres to all practice standards outlined by Hospital Administration and governing regulatory bodies.

We are looking for a physical therapist with solid clinical and leadership experience in the world of pediatric rehabilitation to lead our multidisciplinary team of PTs, OTs, SLPs, rehabilitation technicians and administrative professionals within our new state of the art HSS Pediatric Rehabilitation and Young Athlete Center. This flagship location offers the opportunity to practice in a dynamic out-patient environment and collaborate with world class colleagues across multiple disciplines.
In this highly visible role, you will be responsible for leading and overseeing all aspects of pediatric rehabilitation at HSS and with our partnerships. As a member of our supportive interdisciplinary team, you will also have the opportunity to provide direct clinical intervention in our outpatient setting working with children ages newborn through 21, lead program development and educational and research endeavors.
The ideal candidate must have exceptional oral and written communication skills and the ability to influence people, build relationships and collaborate with MDs and multi-disciplinary team members. Knowledge of general hospital management and practice is preferred. Excellent analytical, quantitative and problem-solving skills coupled with excellent organization and project management skills are a must. Reports to AVP, Rehabilitation and Performance.

Senior Director, Payor Strategy & Contracting

Overview:
Reporting directly to the Assistant Vice President, Payor Strategy and Contracting, the Senior Director Payor Strategy and Contracting will be primarily responsible for the negotiation, implementation and oversight of payor contracts and relationships. The Senior Director will work closely with the analytics team to model all contract proposals including fee-for-service and value-based arrangements (i.e., shared savings, bundles, etc.). They will work closely with the contract operations team to troubleshoot contract operational issues and assist where necessary to bring them to resolution using their understanding of the underlying contracts as well as by leveraging their payor relationships.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Meets with senior leadership to ascertain and develop strategic payor contracting goals.
- Negotiates contracts ensuring financial and strategic goals are translated into contractual language accordingly.
- Analyzes payor contract proposals in conjunction with the analytics team to ensure contracts meet financial goals.
- Works closely with the legal team to review and edit contracts as appropriate.
- Ensures internal stakeholders are aware of contract terms, reimbursement rates, and payor policies and that contract terms are appropriately communicated/translated into front and back-end processes.
- Works closely with the revenue cycle teams to ensure contracts are loaded appropriately into billing and decision support systems.
- Works closely with the contract operations team, UM/clinical denials team, and revenue cycle teams to identify trends and opportunities in outstanding accounts receivable.
- Escalates issues as necessary to payor contacts for resolution. In conjunction with contract operations, recommends escalation through senior management as appropriate.
- Identifies trends/patterned issues to aid in contract renegotiations.
- Assesses contract administrative terms and advises leadership accordingly on measures of contract performance.
- Maintains up to date knowledge on the healthcare market, specifically in regard to payor policies and reimbursement trends.
- Possesses strong leadership skills and demonstrates capability to inspire staff to pursue excellence in goals and productivity; capable of coaching and improving staff in need of professional development. Places high priority on overall team performance.
