He believes in an individualized approach to the management of hip and knee conditions. . Serving as an assistant to Dr. Lee, duties will include assisting with patient evaluations, treatments, patient and family education.  You will interact closely with patients and families and be an integral part of developing great patient and collegial relationships. Your role is essential to promoting a professional atmosphere through courteous communication, cooperation and respect for patients, visitors and members of the healthcare team.  In addition, you will be responsible for upholding stellar customer service practices for patients and families, as well as acting as a liaison to the physician and hospital departments.     DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS - Provide health assessments, diagnosis and treatments - Conduct medical histories and physical examinations - Manage post-operative patient care - Order and review diagnostic studies and communicate results to patients and provide follow-up treatment and education - Develop individual treatment plans for foot and ankle patients - Assist office staff with peer-to-peer requests from insurance carriers during the prior authorization process - Evaluate the need for medical necessity letters and complete them accordingly; complete other patient paperwork including disability, letters of restriction, return-to-work/school, Social Security etc. - Facilitate communication between physician and hospital departments, department management and patients - Work independently on assigned tasks with minimal supervision - Promote cooperation through teamwork - Complete all in-service learning requirements including but not limited to the annual in-service learning. - Perform other duties as needed for effective and safe patient care Position Highlights: Hours: Monday-Friday (no weekends/no call) Medical Benefits: Start on day 1! With a focus on tissue repair, improving surgical outcomes, autoimmunity and inflammation, genomics, new treatments, and precision medicine, the impact of our discoveries determine future directions of musculoskeletal research to best improve clinical outcomes, while serving the community in an environment that aspires to scientific excellence.   Overview:   The Postbacc Fellow (trainee position) will work on a project title, “ABC-mediated networks controlling autoimmunity and musculoskeletal diseases”. This project will evaluate the role of a novel B cell subset, ABCs (Age/Autoimmune associated B cells) in coordinating immune responses and in promoting the development of autoimmune and musculoskeletal diseases. Specifically, the postbac fellow will utilize state-of-the-art molecular and genomic approaches, animal models, and patient-derived samples to investigate ABCs in autoimmune disorders such as Systemic Lupus Erythematosus and Rheumatoid Arthritis. While the primary focus of the work will be using small animal models, these studies will be coupled with an assessment of the accumulation and function of ABCs in samples from patients with autoimmune and musculoskeletal disorders to develop precision-based medicine approaches for these patients. This position provides opportunities to develop strong translational research experience relevant for individuals interested in furthering their career by pursuing medical school or other clinical training. The postbac fellow will work in a dynamic team of scientists and clinicians employing cutting-edge approaches to study autoimmunity and musculoskeletal diseases. The lab is located adjacent to several other labs also engaged in autoimmune and musculoskeletal research, with a diverse background ranging from immunology to bone biology.

This position involves a great deal of patient contact as well as interaction with physicians of various specialties in the hospital. Duties include (but are not limited to) recruitment of patients, assessment of eligibility criteria, administration of questionnaires, coordination of study visits, drawing blood, obtaining specimen form the operating room, processing of biospecimens, obtaining regulatory approvals, and maintaining accurate databases. S/he will have proven abilities to work autonomously, bearing independent responsibility to ensure data accuracy and timely follow through of study procedures.
