The interpreter will also provide sight translation of documents, including but not limited to, consent forms and educational material. The Interpreter must be able to work well under pressure and react quickly to solve complex linguistic and ethical problems as they arise. The interpreter should interpret in an accurate and complete manner; and should follow the Code of Ethics and the National Standards of Practice for Medical Interpreters. The interpreter should have an extended knowledge of specialty medical terminology and be able to perform independently in a fast pace environment. Medical interpreters will translate written materials from source to target language in a precise way. Interpreters will effectively identify cultural differences as potential communication barriers that could interfere with the exchange of information between providers, patients and their families.   PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:   - Demonstrates accurate ability to interpret verbal and transcribe written medical and rehabilitative information in both the Target Language as well as in English. - Assists with research/updated in the field of Language Services. - Adjusts to changing situations and work assignments. - Collaborates with peers, physicians and other members of the team, as appropriate. - Complies with policies and procedures concerning infection control and safety in order to maintain a safe and comfortable environment for patients, visitors, and staff. - Covers the desk/telephone and language services requests, maintains proper filling of documents, and office materials - Promotes a professional atmosphere through courteous communication, cooperation, and respect for patients, visitors and members of the health care team. - Recognizes and respects social, cultural and religious beliefs and practices in the provision of care.   Qualifications - Bilingual Spanish - Certificate in Bridging the Gap and/or Culture Smart - Prior interpretation and translation experience is required - Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with focus on Healthcare or Hospitality - 3+ prior healthcare experience preferred - The ability to influence people, build relationships and collaborate within a multi-disciplinary team - Exceptional oral and written communication skills (both languages)

The RA or PostBac Fellow will participate in basic and translational research projects in immunology, inflammation and autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis and lupus. We investigate cellular and molecular pathways that activate innate immune cells such as macrophages, and the role of inflammation in tissue damage, repair and stem cell function. The Ivashkiv laboratory uses cutting edge immunology, molecular biology and genomic techniques. These positions provide opportunities to develop independent projects and obtain training and experience to prepare for graduate or medical school; the Post-Baccalaureate Researcher Program www.hss.edu/post-baccalaureate-training-program.asp offers more formal training in science and opportunities to present research at conferences and write manuscripts for publication. Positions are available beginning approximately September 2022 and a two year commitment is preferred. Working with colleagues who love what they do and are deeply committed to our Mission, you too can be part of our transformation across the enterprise.   Postdoctoral Fellow Dr. Carl Blobel Lab Postdoctoral position in cell biology and mouse models of wound healing at the Hospital for Special Surgery/Weill Cornell Medicine in New York City.  Looking for a talented and highly motivated candidate with a recent PhD or MD/PhD degree, training in cell biology and mouse models for human disease for a position in Dr. Carl Blobel’s lab.  The project will be focused on the cell surface metalloprotease iRhom2/ADAM17, a key regulator of TNFa, EGF-receptor and IL-6R signaling, and its role in macrophage function, efferocytosis and chronic wounds in mice.  The PI is a physician-scientist with a strong interest in basic biomedical and translational research and a long track record in mentoring postdocs and students to help them establish a career in academia or industry.  The candidate is expected to have one or more high-quality first author publications in cell biology or mouse models of disease or both and should be highly motivated, independent, productive and interested in a career in research. Expertise in mouse models for wound healing and/or in working with myeloid lineage immune cells such as macrophages would be a plus but is not required.   The Hospital for Special Surgery at Weill Cornell Medicine is part of a vibrant scientific community in the Upper East Side of Manhattan that also includes the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center and Rockefeller University, providing an excellent environment for postdoctoral training.  For more details, please visit:   https://www.hss.edu/research-staff_blobel-carl.asp   The position is available starting immediately.
