Working with colleagues who love what they do and are deeply committed to our Mission, you too can be part of our transformation across the enterprise   Advance Practice Provider (NP/PA) Full-Time Monday-Friday 9am-5pm   Hospital for Special Surgery, #1 in Orthopedics for the last 14 years, is currently looking for an experienced and energetic Full Time Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.   The Department of Neurology is seeking a full-time Advance Practice Provider to provide expert, compassionate, and prompt care to patients with mobility disorders, such as Parkinson's disease, Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), dystonia, tremors, etc.   Your role is essential to promoting a professional atmosphere through courteous communication, cooperation and respect for patients, visitors and members of the healthcare team.  In addition, you will be responsible for upholding stellar customer service practices for patients and families, as well as acting as a liaison to the physician and hospital departments.   Competencies/Duties: - Provide clinical consultation, assessment, and management to patients. - Conduct outpatient evaluation, treatment and follow-up of patients as directed by the supervising physician. - Review/interpret patient imaging and lab results; communicate results to patients and provide follow-up treatment and education. - Communicate effectively and appropriately when educating patient/family in regard to their medical condition and/or hospital course. - Document progress patient has made toward desired outcomes. - Utilize the computerized order communication system, including transcription of medical orders, retrieval of test results and documentation of results. - Maintain clear and legible history and physical documentation and all other written reports. - Work independently on assigned tasks with minimal supervision. - Complete any relevant patient paperwork such as medication prior authorizations, plan of care, etc. - Promote cooperation through teamwork. - Other duties as needed for effective and safe patient care. Working with colleagues who love what they do and are deeply committed to our Mission, you too can be part of our transformation across the enterprise.   Physician Assistant Per-Diem   Responsibilities: - Participates in daily patient rounds for patients on the Perioperative Pain Service. - Performs preoperative consults on patients with chronic pain conditions, including long-term opioid use or history of substance use disorder - Provides health care, teaching, counseling and treatment to patients, including assessments of patients’ medical, pharmacological and psychosocial needs. - Monitors and evaluates the patient’s treatment and health care plan for effectiveness and modifies as necessary. - Coordinates admission and discharge for pain management inpatients, including obtaining relevant information regarding medication and ensuring that appropriate discharge prescriptions and follow up appointments are made. - Assists the supervising physician in coordinating management plan. - Documents all assessments, findings, progress and care provided in the electronic medical record. - Refers relevant clinical issues to the supervising physician. - Works collaboratively with all nursing and hospital staff and other hospital staff as required. - Educates nursing staff on uses related to pain management, including distribution of articles and education materials of interest. - Adheres to all practice standards outlined by Hospital Administration and governing regulatory bodies.

Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) NPs are committed to personalized, high-quality healthcare and are held to the same legal and ethical standards of care as physicians and surgeons. The NP in the ACC works collaboratively in the assessment and overall screening of patients, helps to expedite throughput, and optimize patients undergoing orthopedic surgery. Autonomously and in concert with other healthcare professionals, the NP provides a full range of primary, acute, and specialty services, including:  - Diagnosing and treating acute and chronic conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, osteoporosis, infections, and injuries - Ordering, performing, and interpreting diagnostic tests such as lab work and x-rays - Prescribing medications and other treatments - Managing patients’ overall care - Triage and prioritize care - Counseling and ongoing communication - Educating patients on disease prevention and positive health and lifestyle choices - Providing referrals for services and specialties - Completing peer to peer authorizations as needed
