Today, our resolve to provide the safest and most advanced musculoskeletal care for children is stronger than ever, thanks to the dedicated focus and expertise of our pediatric team.   HSS is consistently among the top-ranked hospitals for orthopedics and rheumatology by U.S. News & World Report which ranked The HSS Lerner Children’s Pavilion as the top hospital for pediatric orthopedics in all of NY, NJ and CT in 2023.  As the leader in the related fields of musculoskeletal health, pediatric rehabilitation plays an integral part in the HSS mission.   We are looking for a physical therapist with solid clinical and leadership experience in the world of pediatric rehabilitation to lead our multidisciplinary team of PTs, OTs, SLPs, rehabilitation technicians and administrative professionals within our new state of the art HSS Pediatric Rehabilitation and Young Athlete Center. This flagship location offers the opportunity to practice in a dynamic out-patient environment and collaborate with world class colleagues across multiple disciplines.   In this highly visible role, you will be responsible for leading and overseeing all aspects of pediatric rehabilitation at HSS and with our partnerships.  As a member of our supportive interdisciplinary team, you will also have the opportunity to provide direct clinical intervention in our outpatient setting working with children ages newborn through 21, lead program development and educational and research endeavors.   The ideal candidate must have exceptional oral and written communication skills and the ability to influence people, build relationships and collaborate with MDs and multi-disciplinary team members.  Knowledge of general hospital management and practice is preferred.  Excellent analytical, quantitative and problem-solving skills coupled with excellent organization and project management skills are a must.  Reports to AVP, Rehabilitation and Performance.   Specific Job Responsibilities - Full daily operational oversight - Quality oversight - Education, training and mentorship for peds staff - Providing direct patient care - Program Development - Creating strategic initiatives to drive excellence, innovation and growth - Monitoring of key performance indicators - Clinical excellence: Ensure clinical consistency across service locations - Strategic planning - Fiscal oversight - Partnership with Pediatric service line and interdisciplinary team

This non-accredited fellowship program's mission is to prepare each fellow for both the clinical and on field challenges experienced by Major League Baseball’s rehab and performance staff. This fellowship will accelerate professional development through the unique educational experiences which include mentoring, research opportunities, rehab progressions, surgical observation as well as on and off field player management. These experiences will allow each fellow to provide superior patient care and enhanced patient outcomes. This fellowship is designed to prepare each candidate with the tools and training required to work in Major League Baseball and be leaders in the field of sports physical therapy.   Time Commitment and Salary The HSS and New York Mets Baseball Club Upper Extremity Athlete Fellowship is a full-time position, one year in duration. The fellow is expected to work 40-45 hours/week. Approximately 30% of their time is spent in educational experiences and 70% providing supervised care. The candidate’s primary role is to provide medical and therapeutic massage to the following populations: pre/post orthopedic surgery; athletes recovering from injury as well as improving performance; non-operative orthopedic conditions commonly seen in a rehabilitation center.     The successful candidate should be comfortable working in an academic setting and collaborating with a staff of physical therapists and exercise physiologists.  The candidate will be afforded optional opportunities for attending education conferences and participating in community outreach.
