You will have the opportunity to join a growing surgical practice focused on minimally invasive spine surgery. The position requires close interaction with patients and families; eligible candidates must demonstrate excellent teamwork, communication and interpersonal skills.   This role will require some travel to our Westchester office.   Qualifications:   Graduation from an accredited PA program, current NYS licensure, BLS/ACLS certification and NCCPA board certification are required.   Previous experience in a Spine and surgical practice is desired but not required.   The candidate must also have current Infection Control Certification and have completed a child abuse recognition course. Position: Biostatistician II   Position Summary   The HSS Biostatistics Core provides comprehensive methodologic and analytic support to clinicians and basic scientists at Hospital for Special Surgery in the area of musculoskeletal research. Under the direction of the Core Director, the Biostatistician II will provide study design and statistical analysis support for a variety of projects of their assigned service/s. This role will contribute to the advancement of research both scientifically and statistically. Scientifically, this position will assist faculty in the development of study design, evaluation tools and methods associated with various projects. Statistically, this position will collaborate and advise faculty on the most appropriate statistical methods to apply to research design and outcomes analysis. The Biostatistician II will also have opportunities for authorship on publications stemming from his/her work. The Biostatistician II will have occasional direction but is expected to work independently on several projects.   Essential Tasks/Responsibilities: - Assist in protocol development by implementing proper study design methodology, performing sample size and power calculations, and generating randomization schedules. - Make recommendations for appropriate statistical analyses and design to investigators and study team. - Perform statistical queries, analyses, and evaluation as assigned through the Biostatistics Core. - Responsible for accuracy and timeliness of summary reports, tables, and figures to investigators and study team. - Collaborate on grants, presentations and manuscripts submitted for publication, including writing methods sections and analysis plans for incorporation into protocol and grant submissions. - Contribute to teaching biostatistical methodology to medical students, residents, fellows, and other Hospital staff. - Stay informed of statistical techniques as applied to musculoskeletal research issues by reading journals and/or attending courses/programming meetings. - Collaborate with other members of the Core by suggesting changes or improvements to existing analytic code, study design protocols, and any proposed analytic methods. - Mentor junior level Biostatisticians I.   Education/Experience - Master's Degree in related field of epidemiology or biostatistics. - 2-4 years required (3-5 years preferred) of biostatistical consulting experience, either within the academic curriculum or as part of a consulting service unit. - Experience in musculoskeletal research is preferred.   Competencies - SAS is the preferred statistical package within the HSS Biostatistics Core, but candidates with experience in other statistical packages are encouraged to apply. - Intermediate to advanced proficiency in data preparation, descriptive analyses, comparative statistics, and advanced statistical modeling. - Possess the ability to facilitate the flow of information through effective written and oral communication. - Possess ability to interpret technical medical data and generate sound recommendations to support clinical research efforts. - Maintain ability to work independently and take responsibility for timeliness of analytic reports and other deliverables. - Provide sound methodologic review to an internal scientific review panel. - Demonstrate good organization skills, effective time management, and the ability to manage several concurrent tasks. - Maintain a team-oriented approach and possesses the ability to cultivate a positive and collegial workplace relationships – demonstrating integrity and ethics at all times. - Appreciate and understand the connection between individual goals, departmental goals and the organizational mission – while continually seeking ways to improve personally and as a team.

Works with Pharmacy management to troubleshoot drug administration issues and resolve complex software interface problems. Demonstrates a broad understanding of business operations and works with Epic software, project team(s), HSS business representatives, SMEs, and end users to tailor systems to fit the organization’s needs. Utilizes comprehensive understanding of automatic drug dispensing systems (“ADS”) interfaces and works with the interface team to design and optimize intricate integrated workflows associated with the use of Epic software. The long-term goal of the research program is to identify potential biological approaches for therapy of the disc and in treatment of disc related disorders like lower back pain.   Candidate having a recent Ph.D. degree in Developmental Biology, Cell and Molecular Biology or Biochemistry will be desirable. Expertise in mouse genetics, microscopy, gold-stand techniques of cell and molecular biology, computational biology and writing skills is required. The process is complex due to the vast amounts and variety of surgical instruments found in each tray and meeting the demand of our very busy operating rooms here at HSS.   The CSP team prides themselves in being engaged and compliant to regulatory standards for quality and patient safety in order to deliver the best service and products for patients that come to HSS.   In the Central Sterile Technician role, we rely on you to adhere to the mission by ensuring the delivery of our world-renowned patient care, and providing sterile supplies, instruments and equipment required for patients undergoing orthopedic surgical interventions. You will support all patient care areas by properly processing surgical equipment using washers, sterilizers, dryers, and heat sealers. The processing and logging of implants and loaner sets of instruments is also vital to your contribution.
