The Patient Accounts Rep- Edit Specialist supports the pre-access and access areas by providing ongoing analysis of call center quality and productivity, and resolving registration related claim edits. The position requires proficiency with analytical tools (Excel), strong communication skills, an inquiring mind, and a strong commitment to delivering the highest level of customer service. A successful candidate will be self-directing, organized, and detail-oriented. Possess the ability to work independently and in a team environment. The edit specialist must be able to learn quickly and adjust work assignments in response to system changes.


Essential Job Functions and Accountabilities

  • Resolves eligibility and authorization denials
  • Updates and edits registration errors
  • Monitors call center quality, accuracy,  and productivity
  • Communicates trends and collaborates with Patient Access Trainer to develop solutions
  • Delivers data products in report/ presentation format, or verbally to customer specifications and timelines
  • Provides a high level of customer service
  • Contributes to team effort

Specific Job Skills

  • Experience using Excel features and techniques
  • Experience in analysis and presentation of data
  • Experience with ClinStar, required. Familiarity with database application development (e.g., Microsoft Access) desirable. Familiarity with Methodcare, and EPIC, a plus
  • Skills in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with colleagues
  • Strong communication skills, both written and spoken
  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Exercises independent judgment
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment and remain flexible under stressful situations 

Education and Experience

  • Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience
  • 3 years patient access experience
  • Experience as an edit and/or claims specialist, or equivalent role providing data analysis and decision support, preferred
