As an essential member of our interdisciplinary team, you will support a wide range of surgical and medical care for our diverse patient population. You will complete accurate patient histories and examinations, serve as first/second assistant to surgeons in the operating room, and order and administer parenteral medicines, bolus doses and transfusions upon request by your supervising physician. Your duties will also entail conducting outpatient evaluations, following up on surgical patients, and ensuring patient safety with assistive devices.
Graduation from an accredited PA program, current NYS licensure, BLS/ACLS certification and NCCPA board certification are required.Also, the candidate must have current Infection Control Certification and have completed a child abuse recognition course. The PA must have excellent communication skills and be a team player. It is essential that the candidate possess strong clinical skills. Ideally, the candidate should be experienced in orthopaedic surgery and have commensurate surgical skill for assistance during total knee and hip replacements among other surgical procedures.
