Position Description:
The Program Coordinator, Resident & Fellow Research, reporting to the Senior Director of EI Outcomes and Scholarly Activity, will provide support and coordination for HSS EI Programs for all matters related to data analysis, outcomes reporting, faculty and trainee scholarship, Academic Training research, and quality and process improvement initiatives. The Program Coordinator supports all sponsored programs in the following areas: resident and fellow research projects, resident and fellow grant funding, resident and fellow scholarship as defined under the ACGME Common Program Requirements and enhancing the knowledge and practice of the scholarly approach to evidence-based patient care.
Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Supports the SD, EI Outcomes & Scholarly Activity in ensuring compliance of the Sponsoring Institution with the ACGME Institutional Requirements for scholarly pursuits and availability of resources to support ongoing scholarship.
- Ensure that each ACGME-accredited program is in substantial compliance with the ACGME Common and specialty/subspecialty-specific program requirements for resident and fellow scholarly activities. Accomplishes this aim by periodically meeting with each program to promote scholarly activities and build effective relationships.
- Consults with investigators and faculty mentors for new and ongoing research and quality improvement projects.
- Coordinates the Annual Mathias P. G. Bostrom Chief Resident Research Presentations as well as the Annual Chief Fellow Research Presentations
- Supports the process for analysis of data and preparation of manuscripts and scientific presentations. Guides the development of data capture and monitoring plans to maintain quality.
- Assists in development and execution of projects that enhance the scholarly activity of GME Residents and Fellows, as well as students where appropriate ( e.g. QCC initiatives).
- Supports Course Director for Resident Research, Evidence Based Medicine, and Resident Statistics educational modules.
- Identifies collaborative research opportunities, including poster competitions, workshops, webinars, and other Continuing Medical Education (CME) programs.
- Supports the development and maintenance of research tools, such as spreadsheets, questionnaires and/or brochures to support GME requirements.
- Contributes to various reports for GME including the Annual Institutional Review (AIR).
- Educates faculty and residents/fellows on established policies, processes, and procedures for trainee scholarly pursuits.
- Assists in development of evaluation tools that effectively capture the necessary data required.
- Support and mentor Residents and Fellows in Institutional Review Board (IRB) submissions and Clinical Review Panels (CRPs)
- Develop regular data reports and dashboards to track program performance and outcomes.
- Organize team meetings, prepare agendas, and document meeting minutes.
- Address ad-hoc data requests and projects for changing ACGME requirement and for all EI initiatives.
