Language Services Associate - Bilingual Spanish

Per Diem (up to 15 hours per week)

 

The Language Services Associate coordinates and schedules interpretation services for staff and limited-English speaking patients and their families in order to facilitate communication so that the patient or family member can participate in their health care interactions and decisions. The associate must be able to work well under pressure and react quickly to solve complex linguistic and ethical problems as they arise. The associate will help triage phone calls from both internal HSS staff, patients, and/or their family members. The role is M-F 2p-5p.

 

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Scheduling interpretation for upcoming appointments
  • Coordination and dispatching of interpreters and video remote interpretation devices
  • Covers the desk/telephone and language services requests, maintains proper filling of documents, and office materials Assists with research/updated in the field of Language Services.
  • Adjusts to changing situations and work assignments.
  • Collaborates with peers, physicians and other members of the team, as appropriate.
  • Complies with policies and procedures concerning infection control and safety in order to maintain a safe and comfortable environment for patients, visitors, and staff.
  • Promotes a professional atmosphere through courteous communication, cooperation, and respect for patients, visitors and members of the health care team.
  • Recognizes and respects social, cultural and religious beliefs and practices in the provision of care.

 

Qualifications

  • Bilingual Spanish
  • Bachelor’s preferred, or pursing
  • Prior experience in a healthcare setting
  • The ability to influence people, build relationships and collaborate within a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite: Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint

Pay Range - Minimum

USD $32.00/Hr.

Pay Range - Maximum

USD $35.00/Hr.
