Full-Time (day shift)

Brooklyn Office

Located within the Brooklyn Nets Training Center in the newly developed Industry City neighborhood, HSS has opened a brand new comprehensive Outpatient Center that offers physician office visits for medical diagnosis and pre- and post-operative care; radiology services, including digital x-ray and MRI; and PT / Rehabilitation / Sports Performance services. This location is the first HSS offering within the borough of Brooklyn and offers patients the opportunity to access non-operative and surgical specialists, including a variety of sub-specialty programs. Direct access to care will be a major focus of this Outpatient Center, harnessing digital technologies and open scheduling models to help patients coordinate care in an immediate fashion. Physicians work collaboratively with on-site HSS-trained physical therapists to ensure treatment plans are seamless and collaborative.

Industry City is a newly developed commercial neighborhood within Sunset Park, Brooklyn. Located on 35 acres of waterfront property, HSS Brooklyn is prepared to offer high-quality orthopedic and musculoskeletal services to employees, residents and visitors to this burgeoning neighborhood and its surrounding communities. 

Working under the supervision of a MD or Physician Assistant, you will provide care to patients in the physician office setting. Your ability to promote the highest standards of patient safety and respond to patients and families with consideration and compassion is critical to the mission of HSS.

Responsibilities

• Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary health care teams to maintain the standards of professional nursing practices in a clinical setting
• Collect comprehensive data on patients’ health (from patients and/or family members); Analyze data to determine needs.
• Assisting the physician in treatments and procedures and ensuring that all physician orders are carried out appropriately and timely; work collaboratively with ancillary staff, including Patient Care Assistants
• Foster effective and patient throughput, delivering excellent customer service, establishing and maintaining an organized professional environment.
• Integrate patient care standards in all clinical activities; participate in performance improvement activities to improve patient safety, quality of care and patient outcomes
• Maintain sensitivity and awareness of cultural and religious diversity when addressing patients, visitors, co-workers and other customers
• Promote a supportive and team-oriented environment
• Support departmental responsibilities consistent with the long-range strategic plan, mission, vision and values of the hospital

Minimum Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing required
• NYS LPN license and registration required
• BLS certification required
• 1+ years’ of experience as an LPN preferred

Essential Qualifications

• HCAHPS/EPIC knowledge preferred
• Strong patient centered approach with emphasis on providing exemplary and world-class customer service
• Meticulous attention to detail
• Self-motivated and proactive; a team player who knows how to think critically in a fast-paced, challenging environment
• Active participant in seeking solutions to problems
• Confident in removing sutures and staples independently- preferred
• DME/ cast removal/ PRP experience- preferred 
• Knowledge of orthopedics- preferred
• Strong phlebotomy skills- highly preferred 
• Have prior experience in a fast paced physician office setting- highly preferred 
• Time management and prioritization skills - preferred
