    Senior Director, Performance Programs

    Summary

     

    The Senior Director, Performance Programs is responsible to track, forecast, and facilitate the highest level of performance for HSS on publicly reported quality/value ratings/rankings.   As the world leader in musculoskeletal health, HSS has consistently demonstrated exemplar performance on numerous measures of health care quality/value and is committed to further improve the quality/value of care delivered at HSS while advancing the science and meaningfulness of performance measurement.  The Senior Program Director will report to the Chief Value Medical Officer in a highly visible role interacting regularly with the CEO, the Chiefs of Surgery and Medicine, Service Chiefs and the VP of Quality.  It is expected that the Senior Director will engage regularly with external quality assessment entities, participating as appropriate on national committees and advisory groups.   

     

    The Senior Director, Performance Programs will:

    • Maintain deep knowledge of external performance programs, their component measures and the data sources from which scores are calculated.
    • Track/forecast HSS performance on programs.
    • Analyze internal and external factors that impact performance scores and formulate improvement plans consistent with HSS Care standards.
    • Manage, distribute and enhance the reporting of performance data to relevant stakeholders, collaborating with the Operational Excellence and Information Technology teams to develop accessible, actionable and streamlined reporting.
    • Work with leaders across HSS to ensure best possible performance, consistent with HSS care standards, on externally reported performance by
      • Facilitating the Performance Steering Committee, composed of clinical and operational leaders, to identify improvement opportunities and oversee the successful implementation of quality improvement plans.
      • Providing project management for interdisciplinary performance enhancement teams.
    • Work with national performance measures organizations to advance the science and meaningfulness of performance measurement.
      • Track and analyze proposed changes to programs and engage with program developers to provide constructive feedback on changes proposed by the agencies and any other changes that would enhance the reliability or validity of measures/programs.
      • Seek out opportunities to participate on committees/advisory groups of national performance assessment entities.
    • Develop a vision for long-term performance excellence at HSS main campus and at satellite locations as HSS grows.   

    The ideal candidate will have a passion for health care quality, fluency in all aspects of performance measures/measurement and the interest to engage with internal and external stakeholders to promote the production of the highest quality care and the development of measurement programs that support this mission.  The role requires extensive collaboration and the ability to translate sometimes complex analyses to stakeholders in order to affect change. 

     

    Education

    • Bachelor’s degree required
    • Master’s degree (MBA, MHA, MPH, etc.) required
    • Clinical degree (RN, NP, Physical Therapy, Physician Assistant, etc.) preferred but not necessary

     

    Desired Skills & Experience

    • Fluency in performance measures and measurement programs
    • Program management, management consulting, process improvement, or quality improvement experience in a top tier healthcare organization
    • Previous success in managing quality measurement, reporting and improvement activities at a healthcare organization
    • Database management and ability to analyze data using Excel, SAS, R, SPSS, Tableau
    • Demonstrated ability to influence and build relationships with executives and physician champions
    • History of successfully facilitating multidisciplinary clinical and business teams
    • Exceptional communication skills
    • Highly organized and detail oriented
    • Knowledge of performance measurement industry trends, developments, and future state directions
