  • Overview

    The Benefits Financial Audit Analyst will conduct quality assurance audits related to benefit eligibility, enrollment and premium deductions. This team member will conduct routine reconciliations of the benefit plans in conjunction with the Finance Department. They will work closely with the Senior Benefits Analyst, HRIS Systems Analyst and various vendors to ensure compliance with ERISA policies, procedures and financial controls related to the administration of benefits, and make recommendations regarding process improvement and develop new processes to ensure accuracy.   


    Role and Responsibilities

    • Perform quarterly audit of employee HSA contributions by reconciling Optum Bank reports of employee contributions and Lawson reports of HSS contributions, make corrections as necessary and track results
    • Obtain and maintain record of all vendor contracts, rates and fees
    • Perform periodic review of vendor invoices to ensure rates are consistent with the contract rates
    • Review results of quarterly audits completed by bSwift, document results and ensure corrective action is completed
    • Perform quarterly dependent eligibility audit, obtain any missing documentation from employee, and track results
    • Audit participation of Retirement plans
    • Audit imputed income rates in Lawson, make corrections as necessary and track results.
    • Audit health benefit elections by reconciling bSwift enrollment reports and Lawson enrollment reports, make any necessary corrections, track results.
    • Analysis of weekly Lawson load files from bSwift
    • Audit COBRA enrollments
    • Track and process monthly payments for continuation of coverage benefits
    • Work with the Finance Department to complete monthly benefit reconciliation audit
    • Semi-annual audit of Retiree medical plans
    • Review and update benefit policies and procedures as necessary
    • Assist with open enrollment rate preparation/review


    Qualifications and Education Requirements


    A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Human Resources or related field combined with a minimum of two to three years of auditing experience required. 1-2 years of Human Resources Benefits experience preferred. Must be proficient to expert in MS Excel and MS Access. Experience working with Lawson or similar HRIS systems preferred. Ability to analyze data, workflow and processes to identify data issues.  Experience extracting data from multiple sources/systems, combining data in a meaningful manner to analyze and identify discrepancies. Ability to make recommendations regarding process improvement and develop new processes to mitigate ongoing errors with regards to benefits.


    Preferred Skills


    Proficiency in Lawson HRIS is preferred, but will accept other similar systems. Proficiency in MS Office Suites.
