    OR Scheduler 


    Located on the West Side of Manhattan, HSS is developing a brand new comprehensive Center that offers physician office visits for medical diagnosis and pre- and post-operative care; radiology services, including digital x-ray and MRI; an ambulatory surgical center (ASC), and PT / Sports Performance. This will be the first one-stop-shop facility of its kind at HSS that contains all of these musculoskeletal services in a single, convenient, location.   


    Complements and supports physicians, nursing, and registration staff in the provision of care to patients and families according to established standards of care. Facilitates multiple communication activities (oral, written, and computerized) between health care providers, patients, and families. Schedules appointments, conferences, diagnostic testing, pre-surgical clearance and surgery as directed by physicians’ orders. Provides data collection and required statistics for service research and hospital operations. Will also work collaboratively with Patient Access Speciast to ensure reception/registration services to patients, families, and health care providers. Will assist Patient Access Specialist by providing customer service, registration/scheduling, template management, benefit collection, authorizations, and the HSS Standards of Care.



    • Provide exceptional customer service to all patients, visitors, and customers
    • Uses HEART in all interactions
    • Maintains current knowledge of Epic OpTime policies and workflow
    • Maintains documentation and manages information
      • Reviews requests to schedule surgery from MD offices and provides confirmation
      • Schedules and confirms all surgeries in Epic
      • Revises applicable surgery data in OR schedule as necessary
    • Observes and respects patient privacy and confidentiality of information in accordance with HIPPA policies and procedures
    • Promotes environment of care and complies with infection control
    • Maintains awareness of departmental resources and communicates requests for special equipment
    • Performs other related duties incidental to the work described here in


    • High school diploma or equivalent G.E.D. required; business school or college preferred
    • One year of account management required
