    Full Time Service Line Manager

    Hand and Foot & Ankle


    The Manager of the Hand and Foot & Ankle orthopaedic service lines will manage daily operations, ensuring excellence in care and thorough compliance with hospital policies, procedures and practice standards.  This individual will coordinate clinical, education, and administrative efforts between various departments with the goal of ensuring comprehensive care in a collaborative environment.  In addition, this person will assist in the development of and be responsible for implementing short and long term strategic plans for each service, overseeing the day-to-day management, implementation and development of new and existing programs and projects, and monitoring their operations and effectiveness. Specific responsibilities will include:


    • Partner with Service Chiefs and Senior Director with strategic planning and business development initiatives
    • Partner with Service Chiefs and Senior Director with the preparation and analysis of performance metrics, budgetary and service reports
    • Function as primary liaison between the division, hospital administration, outside consultants, and other hospital departments
    • Identify new programmatic opportunities; coordinate physician search and recruitment efforts
    • Facilitate organization and planning for service meetings to include coordination of visiting physician travel
    • Assist physicians in the preparation of presentations as needed
    • Manage physician call schedules
    • Ensure appropriate coordination of resident, fellow, and attending time
    • Oversee daily departmental operations ensuring excellence in care and thorough compliance with hospital policies, procedures and practice standards.
    • Represent Service on various hospital committees and project workgroups
    • Complete other administrative projects and tasks as needed

    Development and Fundraising

    • Partner with colleagues in the Development Office on fundraising activities


    Marketing and Public Relations

    • Partner with colleagues in marketing department on activities related to marketing, media, and advertising initiatives. Including: Media opportunities, web development, and developing printed materials.



    • Manage the resident/fellow lecture series for assigned services
      • Schedule and coordinate all educational resources, including maintaining electronic reading list
      • Act as liaison to HSS Academic Training Department
      • Expedite evaluations and reports for Residents and Fellows
    • Manage professional education programs:
      • Secure corporate sponsorships and program funding
      • Act as liaison to HSS Education Department
      • Development and distribution of communication materials
      • On-site event management and sponsor relations

    Faculty and Fellows Program

    • Coordinate recruitment and interview efforts (including on-site event management of fellow interviews)
    • Coordinate fellows events, such as annual fellows dinner, welcome receptions and other related events



    • Bachelor's degree required
    • 4+ years’ progressive experience in a hospital setting; advanced healthcare degree may be considered in lieu of experience requirements (e.g. MPH, MHA, MBA, etc.)
    • Superior oral, written and non-verbal communication skills; ability to forge and maintain strong professional relationships
    • Advanced proficiency with MS Office, including: Word, Excel, Outlook, Project, Visio and PowerPoint
    • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously, often under a deadline and in a fast-paced environment
    • Self-motivated, detail-oriented and pragmatic; a team player who is analytical and solution-focused
    • Ability to prioritize issues, resolve conflicts and communicate with all levels of the organization
    • Must possess ability to learn new software tools & systems as required on the job
