The MRI Laboratory at the Hospital for Special Surgery invites applications for a post-doctoral fellow to join a team of radiologists and MRI physicists who are investigating MRI applications for peripheral nerve imaging (magnetic resonance neurography) with emphasis on developing high resolution three-dimensional anatomical imaging techniques with robust vascular suppression as well as quantitative diffusion techniques.
Candidates should have a strong background in engineering, medical physics, or a related field, and experience with programming and image-processing algorithms. The candidate should possess outstanding writing and communication skills as well as a record of productivity and publications.
The candidate will be assigned a broad variety of tasks including MR pulse sequence programming (C, C++), MR research coordination, scanning and data analysis (Matlab/Python), and grant and manuscript preparation. Candidates will be encouraged to develop their own, independent research ideas that may culminate in a grant application.
HSS is an interdisciplinary work environment, with cooperative efforts of engineers, surgeons and radiologists performing clinical, translational, and basic science research aimed at improving patient care. The MRI laboratory is actively funded by external funding sources, including NIH/NIAMS and private foundations, in performing a variety of interdisciplinary research projects.
The position is available immediately and initial appointment of the job is for one year, with possibility for renewal up to three years, based on performance.
